Howell county wants to take from everyone during the hardest time of the year, Why are taxes not due during the summer? I have a good ideal why. o the county can take property form citizens because they can not afford to pay taxes because of being laid off , extra utility bills, I say this is crooked thievery, masked as personal and property tax. how about grading some snow off of the roads before they become ice. Not only that but why do park benches cost A 1000 dollars? taxes are bull and so are the people who enforce them as are the ones who spend the money so freely.

I agree for the most part. I too would like to know why they are due at this particular time of year. Is it like that everywhere or just in Methville, USA (Home of the Good Ole Boys)?

Damm taxes too high and yes they spend money on stupid sh!t. Roads suck, commissioner's always begging for more money. And somehow they manage to get reelected. Total bs and to make it worst the rural areas that have the most taxable property see hardly any of it. There was a time not long ago that they would have been hung, now there thievery goes completely unchecked. Fu¬Ęk them all.

where are all the road graders? Oregon county has already graded all there roads. No one has seen a Howell county road grader anywhere. Maybe the commissioner job should be given to someone who Likes to work. I would think this is Arkansas with the way these roads are not being maintained. major fail howell county . and please to god do something better this year with the Christmas parade. last year was horrible. infact can you guys do anything right?

The road graders came by my house on Friday. They aren't able to plow all of the snow off of a gravel road but they knocked down about half of what was there. There are a lot of gravel roads in this county so it is going take awhile to get to all of them. It would be my guess that they start with heavily traveled roads or roads that run from highway to highway.
As for the taxes being due in December... the simple solution is to save money throughout the year to pay for the taxes.

Maybe you are someone important. I would say so from your comment. As far as the taxes go. The property values placed on land is unrealistic . This I s a poverty stricken area. the only people who have money in this community had it given to them or sued for it.
Thank You

Taxed Enough Already....MO property taxes are quite low compared to most states... the tax on an acre of land runs less than $4.00 a year. Where they stick it to you, is personal property tax like autos, buildings, and farm equipment... And if you can tell us where in Howell County a park bench was purchased for $1000.00 dollars, it will be on the front page of our newspaper tomorrow, but sounds like you're just a drama QUEEN !

well I have a job. how do you think I came upon owning land to be taxed on. but if I had two jobs like you I probably wouldn't have time to post as much as you do. Screw taxes why should I have to pay for owning land and vehicles. Plenty of people use the same roads that do not pay property tax. I wouldn't call sitting on your uncles lap a second job even, if you do get paid.

Oh LOOKIE here the elementary students are out of School and bored so they had to once again run to topix to Bicker and Name call . Stop it all ready Geez Speaking of Drama queens . Now can we get back the to topix ? I will personally offer the kids a Lolly pop if you would go find something to do or at least refrain from getting on here to make yourself out to be a twat. Anyways Yes to the Adults I agree , Missouri State is taxing us all to death , MISSOURI is the ONLY state that I know of that taxes Food , Like who freaken taxes food ??? We all nag about it but why don't we all come together with Prick Nixon and the money hungry politician ? Missouri state also is one of the few states taxing for your own personal vehicles weather it be a car , truck or tractor to be parked on your own land or renter property , whats up with that ? I totally agree that The Missouri state Residents are being pumped in the bottom way to much , why take the abuse ? And the Boys at Plow , ok yeah I have seen better crews and better days in the past . The FREEWAY of all things being iced over with semi Trucks blasting threw , yeah the city is really concerned about the mo folks . It took about a day and a half before I saw any trucks plus that's pretty bad that some actual residents are taking their own personal time away from their families to help clear the road and for that I Thank you whomever all is doing this even though you paid to have that right to sip coffee and enjoy the weather from the windows of your home .

Try to READ the information, not the headline...it was three PICNIC TABLES with benches made from concrete, not four... AND they were not bought with ANY property taxes from Howell County, but were from money of the Water and Land Conservation Fund grant through The Missouri Department of Natural Resources from the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Which if you knew anything about anything, you are told what you can buy with the money, by strict guildlines, or you FORFEIT the money to another community... Why would you want to mulct our own community?

So, Lieutenant Dan, if you think property and sales taxes are so wrong, where should we get the money from to fund the govt? A box of chocolates?
