Yes. You qualify for just under 1,000 dollars of the credit, but you know that the IRS might red flag you since you did not make enough money to support two children. Unless you had unemployment or some other kind of income or support (medicaid,WIC,foodstamps,HUD). You have to file taxes because you earned over 600 dollars. Either way you are getting money back.

*I never said welfare is taxable. I said you have to prove a way that you supported two kids if you want to claim them.
To claim the earned income credit you must be at least 25 w/ no dependents OR you can be under 25 if you have dependents. You can claim your children, but as I said before it might red flag unless you have some other kind of way you took care of them (welfare).

Here you will find the link to the IRS EIC tax Table for 2011. It's possible there is a very slight increase in the credit for the 2012 tax year.

I think the credit is a load of crap. I see so many deadbeats getting back thousands of dollars and for what? The luxury of having kids you chose to have? Middle class people have children as well, but we PAY taxes.

Well I politely tried to provide you a resource by which you could obtain that info if you so chose. But since you chose not, let's just say the answer is $1 minimum income/$2 EIC.

Oh, please. Middle class people do not pay taxes, either. Go look at the tax rates or ask Romney. Trolling without proper info is lame.

MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE PAY THE MOST TAXES!!!! Lower class welfare people pay none and still get back thousands of bucks in EIC. That means our taxes are helping to raise your kids. How fair is that?? Get a job, get off the system, and help balance the budget. Enough said.

Ignore this fool...she is just like oBAMA, trying to "classify" groups of citizens, and have them fight against each other, with class warfare and envy. It's just a tool these commies use to defeat our country from within.

I share your apprehension. What you can do is google IRS EIC table. Government websites are relatively safe.

And you are most welcome.

Now, if making $42,000-$50,000 isn't middle class especially in the Ozarks, I'll eat your hat.

$45,060 ($50,270 married filing jointly) with three or more qualifying children
$41,952 ($47,162 married filing jointly) with two qualifying children
$36,920 ($42,130 married filing jointly) with one qualifying child
$13,980 ($19,190 married filing jointly) with no qualifying children

Hell, the median income for a family in West Plains is $30,369. Sad. Must be 2 adults working at fast food or Walmart and still qualify for SNAP. What a sh*tty town.

last time I checked you file federal taxes, not Ozark taxes. You're not worth the hat you would be eating. And who are you or your leftist fags, to classify any American based on income. I know many people with incomes lower than $42,000 -$50,000 that have millions worth of assets.

Okay, dum dum. One must EARN income in order to get the refund. If one is on unemployment, TANIF, disability.....no EIC refund. Go to the IRS site, because the info is there. Plus the poorest of the poor pay taxes. Maybe not federal, but sales, property, and real estate, gas, state, pay roll, etc. The EIC credit is to make up for the inequality of wages. You have a problem with the working poor? Take it up with the owners of Walmart, Mc Donald;s or any other mulit billion dollar comapany that pays lowest wages possible.
