Ok we moved to Maple Heights Apartments on E Maple street about 8 months ago. The apartment manager made us do all the repairs ourselves before we moved in. No immediate concern. He seemed kind of "off" but not a bad guy at first. Well as time went on we paid our rent on the first every month mind you, we began having problems with the water heater. We called the manager and asked him to fix it. THey replaced the heating elements and that didn't fix it so they let us go without hot water for a week and I have 2 children living in my home. I was really upset that we couldn't get anything fixed. Well my husband calls him up leaving him a message and says "if you can't fix it I will find someone who knows what they are doing and send you a bill because we cannot go without hot water" never received a response. Well they began remodeling the apartment downstairs about a week later. They were playing loud music and disrupting things on a HUGE level in our apartment. One day my husband went to ask them to turn the music down so that our son could take a nap, he didn't even get a chance to ask him because when he saw my husband coming the apt manager ripped the door open and hit my husband in the face and pushed him out into the yard. Cops were called and a report was filed charges are now pending. We are now being evicted over this dispute even though our rent is paid and we never had any issues before. He continues to harass us and has even taken to threatening ME! I do not recommend renting here. The owner is an old woman named Schaffer and she allows this mad man to manage her property. He is a psycho and if you have kids fear for their safety if you move here.

Don't lie. You have not paid rent for 2 months now. Save everyone any more trouble and leave. BTW, your husband is doing one of your neighbors....

Maybe the issue is your husband is SAYING he has paid the rent, and is spending it on your neighbor instead

If this "is" the "real" manager in question, you have just showed your true colors. I believe the original poster. What a miserable little dweeb you must be. You must be doing the owner to still be employed. I can't think of any other reason that you would still be employed.

If I haven't paid my rent for 2 months then why do I have receipts? OH and we don't even have any neighbors so how can my husband cheat with one of them? The apartment manager the REAL one ran everyone else off!

Never get into a rental agreement where the property manager makes you responsible for someone elses damage or wear and tear.

My brother lived there and the older lady that lived next to him was at work and he went in her apt. And threw everything in the dumpster and told her to get out. She was planning on moving and didn't give a 30 day notice so he was mad. The police were called. He was suspended from the grounds but is back now. My brothers hot water heater leaked and he also had to do the painting and maintance when he moved in.glad he got out when he did and I would suggest renting from him either.

I was here when that happened also. do you happen to know what that woman's name was? I a filing something against the owner and think she might want to get in on it.

Thanks :) I appreciate you posting that reply to this post though. It just lets people know what kind of a place this is. Maybe save somebody from having to go through the same ordeal. I am just trying to put the word out. I wanna post the guy's full name SO bad lol

I don't see anything wrong with it. The guy is a creeper. Me and my friend were going to move there before we found out about him. We decided not to when we found out he could go into the apt at anytime which being two teenage girls, we decided that would be a bad idea. And he goes in apts when noone is home and steals stuff.

I am glad you decided against moving here. He walked in on one girl that lived downstairs while she was sleeping. Sad part of it is, the owner told me she will not get rid of him. I think he is related to them somehow. But in any case, we found another place even though we didn't use any references which was lucky. We can't move until the first of April because they accepted our rent money and THEN decided they wanted us to move out. The owner said she is having her lawyer "handle us" I am soooo mad!

Oh, sue their asses. If what you say is true, you CAN and should post his name on here so other people can beware of that snake. Paid rent or not, you don't resort to.violence. Even if someone theoretically didn't pay rent for 2 months, the landlord should evict them after one. Get a lawyer even if money is tight. Pay them off with the settlement.

Claim EMOTIONAL DISTRESS from the violence (esp. if it occured in front of children) and your settlement will be enough to pay your lawyers off and put a down payment on a house so you don't have to deal with landlords anymore. Let me know if you need the name of an attorney, girl!

Yeah - just give her a call! She is a close family friend. Not sure what her sort of rates are, but I'm sure if you explain your family's financial situation to her, as well as what you went through, she could work something out. She wins a LOT and goes after people.

Honest advice - just move on. Get away from the situation.

Taking it to court will quickly turn into a "He said" "She said" type situation. There are no real provisions under MO law for any damages in this kind of situation save for maybe a couple of months rent. Emotional distress has no bearing in this kind of situation - under the law.

If there was any chance of getting any kind of settlement or award in the case, there are numerous lawyers right here in West Plains that could handle it, and would on a contingency basis. Call them, but I suspect you will be disappointed with the answer you will get.

The charges pending for assault, have they been filed? Who are they against, the maintenance man or your husband?

Have they filed a formal eviction?

No formal eviction just a letter from their attorney stating that we have 30 days until they file the unlawful detainer. The assault charges were filed and are pending in municipal court against the apartment manager my husband was never charged as he was the only one with injuries April 20th is when he goes for his first hearing and we will be there trust me.
