Why should a persons credit score be a factor in an insurance company calculating a premium?

If you don't pay your bills on time you probably aren't very responsible. That's why.

When the govt forced them to quit using race as a factor, they had to come up with something else to keep the black man down... the govt should take over auto insurance too, then whity could subsidize that too...

Since health insurance companies have been forbidden to refuse coverage to individuals with preexisting health conditions, they will now be able to offset these added expenses by refusing to offer people with low credit scores continued coverage when they default on their payments and they "will" default because costs are doubling and tripling. Looks like you get screwed either way. I'm so glad that I didn't fall for this liar's rhetoric during both elections. The ignoramuses who voted for this Socialist Muslim psychopath are getting just what they paid for at the expense of the rest of us. Happy now dummies???

Thank you Digger. That's what I'm talkin about. It's not like the insurance company has loaned a person money and is now at risk for losing it. The most investment they have on a policy is one month worth of coverage. If you don't pay your premium then they cancel you therefore the risk is removed. Kinda handy that it's demanded of us to have insurance and then a condition is placed upon us to have the good credit score. I'm pretty sure they knew what percentage of drivers had a less than perfect credit score when the law was passed many years ago. Politicians can have bad credit scores too but I bet they don't get penalized for it when it comes to insurance. It's not very often that you here of an insurance company going bankrupt.

in my experience I have found people who don't pay their bills it's not because they don't want to it's because lack of funds.

You all are missing the point. The fact that it's a LAW that everyone has to have insurance to drive a car drives the price of insurance up. Now it's a LAW that everyone have health insurance. Now just what do you think will happen to health insurance rates and health care rates? Hmmm? Any ideas? Anyone?

Yes...and it's already happening. Here's an example, a small business owner with 15 employees has recently reported that his employee covered health insurance went up over 62%. He will obviously be forced to fire some employees and I would suggest that he only fire the Obama supporters. They should understand.

It may be the projected cost for 2014. I know I just received what my increase will be next year which is just around the corner. Nevertheless...it's a ridiculous increase. Small businesses cannot survive Obamacare without passing the cost on to their customers. Let the suffering begin.

I've found out that the premiums for health insurance is so high even with a subsidized rate, who can afford the premiums?I think we are better off to pay the fines. If you get sick you will have to pay it out. This really sucks. We can't afford health insurance but we will be fined even if we aren't sick!

I wish I "did" have poop insurance this morning. I made quite a mess over here. The national guard may have to be called to help clean it up. It's amazing how much the sink and the toilet look alike when you're drunk.

You know you will be charged more for health insurance if you...

Smoke
Drink
Your BMI is high
Don't pass the annual wiz quiz
Talk bad about my mama or sister
Don't go to church & tithe
Have illegitimate children
Been married more than once
Divorced

...you know, all the above may be indications that you might be irresponsible.
