Hear it around 2:40 in the 160 & JJ area. I thought it was an explosion, but could have been a sonic boom.

that is alot of square miles,,,wonder what it really was,,,maybe an earthquake cuz we are on a branch of a fault line,,,there might be a hillbilly living in the woods around here scratching his head wondering where his shack went cuz the ground done opened up,,,and this hillbilly dont like talking to folk and dont like the law on his property so we might never know,,,but it is strange for a boom like that being that big,,,unless the jet was tree level,,,

Spirits are NOT in any way capable of supersonic flight. Stealth is the key to the survivability of the B-2 and sonic booms ≠ stealth. It would be akin to using a flashlight in a dark room. As for sonic booms, they are capable of shaking a house, rattling windows and waking a baby. Growing up in the '60s on the eastern edge of White Sands Missile Range/Holloman AFB sonic booms everything from “Voodoos”,“Phantoms” and even the occasional “Blackbird” were commonplace. When my dad was involved in the early Wild Weasel development flights, he would let us boys know when he would be turning and burning his “Thud” so we could be outside, watching and hearing him make his share of booms roll across the Tularosa Basin. It was commonplace to see windows with strips of tape running from corner to corner to reduce the chance of shattered glass.
