I just got the stupidest thing that Ive heard in awhile. So it seems as tho the inmates at County jail aren't allowed to read anything but the BIBLE. Horse shit. Who are they to tell who what they can and cant read. The stupid bible needs to be updated anyway. And how is it going to educate or help the time fly by for these people. The bible don't solve everything. Come on people get real.

Perhaps if the inmates had read more of the bible earlier in life they wouldn't be sitting in a jail cell today.

the bible teaches forgivness,,,it teaches peace at heart,,,it teaches inspiration,,,it teaches compassion,,,it teaches how to love,,,it teaches how to deal with anger,,,it teaches your not alone and have hope,,,and best of all,,,it makes you think about what you read by way of making you reflect of how the verse your reading is to your life and gets your mind working,,,and when ones mind starts to work your talent comes out,,,plus it is a known fact,,,that one verse of this book has changed even the hardest of hearts,,,this is the grave diggers opinion on this subject and am thankful they didnt give the convicts,,,which by the way are people in need of something called compassion cuz their only human and we all know aint a human on GODS green earth perfect and do and will make mistakes,,,but thankful they didnt give them,,,the koran,,to read,,,or how ever you spell the devils book,,,

Updated??? Oh...what would you like to see changed? What bothers you the most? Perhaps it should state that gay sex is now acceptable and/or it's o.k. to take the Lord God's name in vain. Would that make you happy you weirdo???!!!

The Bible isn't stupid! And to update a series of books that has been published thousands of years ago is preposterous! Lol! You seem uneducated and are preoccupied by loathesome remarks on all these threads! I don't think they should only be allowed to read only the Bible but the county jail doesn't have to provide them anything.( if this regard is really true.) The Bible should be studied and not just read! It has lots of wisdom in it if not anything else for all you heathens!

Lol, this remark is true, not regard? I use an iPad and one little mistake and it changes the word. It's not so bad on my laptop. I probably should take it off and edit. I just don't have time and am going through a few threads after work.

Bunk. They get newspapers letters and other reading material its the law. Porn and other stuff like high times or whatever the thugs read these days may be restricted. If they abuse it they lose it also. As the saying goes Religion the final refuge of a true scoundrel.

I don't know what people have against The Bible. Even if you don't believe in everything that's in there, it is still an ancient collection of books that have stood the test of time. If you are stuck in a jail cell after a while you should be glad of anything interesting to pass the time. If you want sex and violence, believe me, there is plenty of that in there. If you want history, there is plenty of that. If you want tales of human suffering and triumph over tragedy, you will find that in there too. At the time those books were written, it was the everyday life of people alive at that time. When you read it you realize things have not changed much when it comes to human nature and the forces of good and evil. Sure, you can study it and go around spouting scripture just to make sure everybody knows what a pious person you are, but The Bible warns against such things. Why not just open it up to see what's in there sometime? It doesn't mean you have to join anybody's club, it doesn't mean you have sign your life over to some boring religion that does not interest you. Just pick a book, any book that's in there, and read it. It won't hurt, I promise you. Before you even know it you will have finished one book and you just might find it interesting enough to read another. Maybe you don't like organized religion. You might be surprised to learn that the early Christians started their own way of worship exactly for that reason: they didn't like the organized religion of the time. People don't have to be so uptight and rigid about it! It's just a collection of ancient scriptures, why not have a look at it just to learn something about life in ancient times. Back then, people had the same kind of struggles and problems in life that we still have today, and the most wise among them took the time to write down their thoughts and feelings about how to deal with the problems of life. Over time, these writings became known as scripture but it was real people who had real experiences. You don't have to accept any of it as fact unless you want to. Maybe there's something in there for you, maybe not. You'll never know unless you just have a look.

That's a truly ignorant comment. A person doesn't lose their rights because they have made a mistake. Seriously guy, get a clue.

If there was an ounce of truth to that we'd still be lining people up and shooting them en mass. No trial, nothing.

Oh I dont know about that! The Bible condones the rape of women. It is actually an engagement process for the abused ladies.

My school used to sneak old lady missionaries into Richards R5 and we had a few coaches sneak in prayer and we still said the Pledge.I can't say that it made much of a difference in anyone's lives. We grew up and many of my childhood classmates from that school have went to prison, killed themselves, lost their kids, got addicted to meth and what have ya. Lots of crazy pedophiles in prison who grew up on strict Bible rearing.

but the strict bible rearing you talk about was from the churches round here,,,where sin is accepted except during service time,,,this isnt religous rearing,,,its the sheep being led down the wrong path,,,its been going on round here for generations,,,cuz you cant have this many mean and pissed off people in one little section of the ozarks if the church was doing something right,,,there is way to many branched off belifs in one area to do any good,,,and aint talking bout christians,,,islam,,jewish beleifs either,,,all branched off back wooded christian branch offs,,,you can walk in one church and they tell you the rules for being a christian,,,then walk 2 blocks into the next church and all the rules fo being a christian is diffrent,,,then the next church says them 2 other churches will burn in hell and gives you the right christian rules to follow,,,so to be reared by the churches round here really means you got reared in the rear,,,

Ha ha...they did the same thing at Fairview back in the 70's! I think Dana Carvey based his Church Lady impression on either one of those ladies! They were comical as Hell!
