Yep, you have that right. Drugs and punk kids. I can't believe how many kids, not teenagers, but kids are on drugs in this town. They pretty much have a path beat between the skate park and naturally enchanted.

Throw a small business under the bus why don't you? Don't anyone mention the adults that should be monitoring their children and where they are "beating paths to" ....and I highly doubt the business you mention is actually selling anything illegal to minors. If that was the case it would be easy easy easy to get them shut down.

I can't believe in these times of hardship all around ('cept for those educated folks) people will bash small businesses like this. Behind every small business is someone trying to feed a family. And pay for dental care and medical care. You people can't have it both ways. Want people to work for a living and anyone who his, kick em in the face every chance you get.

It's the parents fault.
Parents send their kids out the door and don't care where they go just as long as they get out of their parents hair.
Parents don't have time for their kids these days, well they do , they just don't want to be bothered by their kids.
Nothing is wrong with the skate park, it's the kids that go there unsupervised, that's the problem .
It goes back to the parents again.

Oh, poor drug dealer. Work honest for a living. Get a legitimate business, not a head shop. Dont sell drugs. It is not right to hook people already struggling with an addiction on a new substance, just because its legal. That hardly makes a healthy community or leads to happy productive lives. It does more harm than good for the "customers" who buy it and the community that has to deal with the increase in crime and the influx of new drugs in schools.

But you are right about the parents. Where are they?! I personally think the park is awesome, a great asset to the community and for the youth.

There are no drugs there unless YOU bring them and if so it's not mentioned to anybody but there are fights but kids are kids and without there parents there to tell not to do it they just wanna show who is the " biggest and baddest". There is alot of talent at the skatepark and gives those kids whos parents don't won't them around so much a chance to b doing something other than walking the streets and a better social life skill

I think the skate park WOULD be an okay place for kids to spend some time and show their talent but the way it is right now it trash. The types of people who hang out there don't give a crap about anything. Anyone driving down St. Louis street can tell that. There is always trash strown about everywhere, there has been numerous reports of vandalism, and it never fails to see cops over there breaking up a fight. If the people that hang out there would just show some respect for the place it would be totally different.

I have a son that skates at the park and has been for years now. He and several of his friends went to the city council meeting last year to fight to keep the park open. They DO NOT want the people hanging out there that bring a bad name to the park. They know that people think skaters are all losers and potential drug users, but these boys are all good students and good members of society. They are fighting hard to prove the stereotype wrong. I have been down to the park several times and have noticed the trash, and I immediately, and probably embarrassingly to my son, started telling the kids to pick up the trash. Along with myself, they pitched in helping to clean things up. Sometimes they do need to be reminded in order to keep their park they must help clean it up, even if it isnt their trash. It is public property, and they are kids and need to be parented at times. And I am one parent that isnt afraid to parent the kids there if they need it.

It is a really cool thing for the kids there just needs to be alittle supervision. I was at the Columbia Mo. skate park years back just watching the kids skate and the city police patrol the park regulary they got out of the car walked over talked and joked with the kids sat and watched for a while then left maybe 10 to 15 mins, they knew alot of them by name and the kids knew them. The cops need to be more than just there when there is trouble I'm sure they could find time in their busy day to stop there when there is alot of kids there just to hang out for a few mins. to get to know them and they would find there are some good kids there and the ones that arent wont be there long.

Oh look. Everyone comments negatively, but in the 70's they were probably all long haired rebels, smoking pot and drinking their dad's stolen beers. I'm sure it was different somehow. Now a kid, teepees a tree and gets 3 years juvenile probation and a mental exam.
