In this economy asking for an increased tax levy is ridiculous! Everyone needs to tighen their belt not build a new gym. I'm tired of people in public office thinking that money just grows on trees.

Is it all about "money" with you people??? Open up your money vault and invest in our youth! Remember...you can't take your money with you!

Absolutely invest in education. Support it 100%. But why through money into school that can not manage what they got? The money needs to go to teachers wages and benefits. Retain good qualified teachers and you will see results. One the same note poor administration must go. Until the administration goes the tax would be wasted.

THEY ARE NOT ASKING FOR A TAX INCREASE TO BUILD A GYM. It is for a STORM SHELTER. Inside the storm shelter, they will be putting bathrooms/ lockerrooms. It will be next to the gym and is NOT IN ANY WAY going to be used as a gym. Your information is INCORRECT. I don't even work at the school and I know this because I attended the meeting/fall festival where they talked about it. I for one feel like the safety of my child is PRICELESS!!!

It's a gym dammit. Look around you. Every school in the whole state has a storm shelter/gym. Do we needem? Hell probly not but they are handy to have around. At least if they use the money on a building there's somethin to show for it. Course then there's the maintenance and upkeep in the future that will be an expense but who the hell cares. Kids expect the best. They expect it now so by damn it's got to be done. Will they be any smarter? Of course not. Will they be any safer? Probly not. They'll sure have a nice new gym to play in tho and that's what really matters most.

If you're not even in the school district, why is your opinion relevent? Mind your own business or pay my taxes if you want a say. AND SAVE THE CAPS FOR SOMEONE WHO CARES!!!!

Please inform yourselves on what you are talking about. The building is only 40 x 60 ft which is large enough to shelter all of the children in the case of a tornado but not large enough for a gym. A standard basketball court is 94feet by 50ft. I care about this issue because I am in the school district and my child goes to school there. Personally, I wish they would build a gym. However, I know that won't ever happen if they can't even get taxpayers to vote for increases to protect the children. Please don't rant about an issue unless you have at least sought out correct information.

I'm informed. I think it's time for Junction Hill to be closed. West Plains offers much better student opportunities and shelter (if that's your major concern). Asking for a tax increase at this time is fiscally irresponsible; and yes, it is about the money. People don't have it to give. I live on a budget maybe it's time that schools, and city, state, and federal institutions learn how to budget.

Its done. Now its time to step up efforts through the school board to assure the spending is properly controlled. Need to keep a close eye on contract bids and it would behoove the district to keep the current board in place. Let's not just lay down roll over and take this. Stand up and work to take control of this situation.

Umm apparently the majority has spoken and passed this tax increase. The time to not lay down, roll over and take this would have been showing up on election day to vote no.

I vote but it doesn't do any good because the majority of people are obviously morons.
