This is why West Plains needs a Lowe's.Call your city planers and let them know you want a Lowe's.Write a letter to the Editor of the West Plains Daily Quil.

I work for Lowe's in Mtn.Home AR. Lowe's in Mtn.Home AR pulls $ 1.7 million dollars from the zip code 65775 Thats taking money out of the West Plains area.I live in West Plains and its a shame we did not get a Lowe's.Call the City of West Plains and thank them. Its just to bad.Lots of people in the West Plains area need jobs.Maybe Rick and Randy Hoover can get us a Lowe's.They are the only ones that do any development in the West Plains area.
Thank You

I do not know that Lowe's is in the position to build in West Plains. It would not necessarily run Meek's out either. Mountain Home has a Lowe's and a Home Depot and Meek's is still open. I have never been in Meek's. I shop at Home Depot. Anytime I have been in Lowe's I had to leave empty handed. No one ever offers to help and if you ask for it you get blown off. When you walk into Home Depot you will find everyone wants to help.

I agree we need a Lowe's.If Lowe's is pulling $ 1.7 million from West Plains to Mtn.Home just think how much money they would make if they were in West Plains.

Why would Lowes ever build here? Especially if we are already spending 1.7 million down there? Agree, most of us home owners drive to Mtn Home instead of the alternatives here in WP.In my opinion these local stores cater to the contractors, so there not worried about your complaints anyway! Give up we will always be stuck with what we have and they all know it!

Today's experience in Meeks:

I walk in the store and there are two employees sharing a joke at the counter, probably at my expense. I walk up and they just stare at me. No 'how can I help you?' or 'Hi' or 'FU' or anything.

me: "How ya doin?"

meeks employee: blank stare, glazed and slightly stupid but hostile look, no verbal response

me: "I need to get 28 squares of shingles to re-roof my house"

meeks employee: blank stare, glazed, stupid, and bothered look, no response

me: "I'm looking for architectural shingles, what do you have?"

meeks employee: "heritage" followed by the blank and stupid glare

me: "who makes 'em?" trying to get some information because I don't know what I'm doing

meeks employee: "tamko" followed by the blank and stupid look but more bothersome was the look on his face that said 'why you aksin' me questions?'

me: "thanks"

and I walked out of the store. I had other questions but it seemed like they were way too put out to answer any questions I had and I don't want to spend my very hard-earned money with a-holes. I went to Lowes in Mtn Home and got what I wanted for much less money and I got my questions answered by someone who wasn't too put out to put up with me.
I frequently try hard to spend my money locally but I'm not gonna spend $3000+ in a store where the employees are not in the least bit friendly. This isn't just Meeks, it's everywhere in West Plains.

I agree. I can't believe these idiots aren't hot footing it to the unemployment line with attitudes like that.

Hoestly , we have an account at Meek's and Hermann's....i quit using our Hermann's account a year or so ago as i found their service to be non existant. 3 or 4 guys sitting on the back counter when you walk in and all look at each other like "ok, who's turn is it to take care of this guy"... Never had a problem at Meek's, but then maybe it is how you present 'yourself'....i am always friendly and chatty with the counter guys, they show interest in what i am building 'now' as do a couple of the yard guys i have come to know from my visits. I am retired, but still do a lot of building projects, so they see me quite regularly...maybe that makes a difference, don't know....but my experience there has been a good one. Now the Springfield Meeks, i quit using years ago when i was a contractor because of the poor service.

I've been to many Meeks stores. The one in West Plains has the nicest staff.
Most all the other Meeks stores I have been in Springfield, Mtn Grove, etc. are extreamly rude!
Recently, the one in Mtn Grove -- needed a bit of paint to finish a project. It was about 10 min before closing. When I walked through the door the counter help told me that they were closing in a few minuets and that I needed to hurry up and get what I needed. Did not ask what I needed, or offer to help me find what I needed.
I just stood there a moment -- surprised by the rudeness. So I turned around and left, went to Walmart.

Bob is cool, the newest guy is okay, at least till they poison him, too. The rest of them both suck and blow, even when they aren't glaring at you. Fuktards what fell off the short bus as it bounced on by the hardware store! The yard guys are all cool as shit each in his own way. It must be all the fresh air and exercise that they get, and the fact that they keep busy doing real actual work all day, instead of gossiping, getting fatter, and fondling each others puds all day. fucaround! The inside help don't know their peckers from a carpenters pencil broke in two, and their shitty attitudes are just ridiculous coming from these mouth breathing tabbies.
