I have absolutly nothing positive to say about this area! It is a man eat man world out there! This people betray eachother with their hand on the Bible! Trying to fool the world, and practice nothing they preach!! No reason for young people to stick around!

There is no opportunity for young or middle aged people here. I moved here a few years ago to give my kids the opportunity to live city life as well as country life so they could make up there minds which to raise their families. I wish I would have never done that. There is no money to be made here, it's overran by meth, youhear about stealing and killing over nothing, and the people (not all) would rather not have outsiders in their town. This is not the same type of small Missouri town that I came from when Iwas young. I have circumstances keeping me here or I WOULD RUN AS FAST AS I COULD! I for one have not been happy since moving here.

Wow. That's not been my experience at all. I love West Plains. Have tons of friends and we are all happy to be here. Ive lived here 20 years but grew up in a huge city. We raised 4 kids here and have really enjoyed WP. Im thankful to be here. I agree that it depends on what your looking for. There really is a lot to do here and really great people. You find what you look for no matter where you go.

Maybe, if we moved here 20 yrs ago, I may feel the way you do. However, I'm afraid the times have changed. I have little to no REAL friends here and have had really bad things happen to me since being here! Like being robbed, now, I'm in more trouble than the thief! Go figure?

I have been here 10 yrs. now, and don't wanna be anywhere else. Yes, the wages are lower, but so is the cost of living, compared to bigger "cities". As far as the druggies, well ... it's all in who you associate with. There are good and bad in every town. It is what you make it!!!

That's horrible. I'm sorry you're going through that. It makese sad you feel like you have no real friends here. You're right though. I've lived here quite a while and have established roots. Im 45 and have raised 3 kids here who have had good friends and good experiences so I may be biased. No where is perfect for sure but it's better than the city I grew up in. I hope your life turns around for you. Sounds like your having a tough time. There are good people out there, I promise :)

We spend a lot of time out side. We fish, float, hang out at the lake or river. Things of that nature. In the winter we build a fire and make dinner over it, play killer in the dark around it. We go ice blocking year round...( sitting on ice and slide down hills... I know, but it's fun!). Target practice. Things that don't cost much but we've had a lot of fun. My kids and their friends have done some very fun creative things... For example: Made a circle with their vehicles and turned on the radio to the same stations and danced to it...(surround sound :)

SPH Tank you for caring. Things always get better eventually. I just need to keep faith that the Lord knows what he's doing. Again, Thank You

Sit in Walmart at the doors and watch meth heads and juvenile delinquents bobble through. Or put one of those magnetic strips on the inside of your clothing and refuse to stop!
