Beginning July 1st 2012 KY and FL will start drug testing welfare recipients. My thoughts, it's about time!

What's your opinion....

This SOUNDS like a good idea in principle, but in reality, it's a huge waste of time & money.

"The average cost of a drug test is about $42 per person tested...
Most types of drug tests fail to detect alcohol abuse – the most commonly abused substance among Americans – and are most likely to detect marijuana use since the active ingredient in marijuana stays in the body’s system longer than any other illicit substance.
Therefore, drug tests often fail to identify people who are using more powerful, more addictive and more dangerous drugs like methamphetamine or cocaine, which exit the body’s system in a matter of hours or days."

That's what we need, let's take away foodstamps from the hood. Starving poor people won't affect the crime rate or taxpayers for that matter. People will eat... People won't stop doing drugs.

Good point. When you cut off the welfare for the crackheads, do you think they'll suddenly quit using and get jobs? NO, they'll come to OUR neighborhoods and rob US. Personally, I'd rather support them with my tax dollars than have it taken at knifepoint...

The worst thing about this is the honest people with nothing, will be hurt the worst. The poor will be robbed and killed since we have to live in the same neighborhoods as the crackheads and methheads.

Only Florida, not Kentucky, has passed this law and it is being challenged as to its constitutionality. A similar law in Michigan was struck down by the U.S. Court of Appeals in 2003. The Florida bill will likely be struck down as well.

I am not, nor have I ever been on welfare. However, I have the intelligence to understand the costs/benefits of such a law. You apparently do not...

I wish I could be on welfare. And if you count the occasional joint after a long day , then yea I'm a "drug user". All that is beside the point. The point is what do you think these people are going to do when the government takes the tit out of their mouth? Get a job? Feed themselves? Bahaha

What a sheltered little world you must live in! The only real point to this law or the KY bill is to pacify Tea Party morons like you. The legislators KNOW it's not going to work, but when they run for re-election, they've got your vote.

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Aquarius

In complete contrast to yesterday, you have your head screwed on firmly today. Yet you won't be boringly sensible or drearily practical, so there's no danger of you having turned into a dry old stick overnight. It's a good day for keeping track of important details and processes, such as confirming a forthcoming appointment or filling in a form and then making a copy of it before sending it off.
