Why isn't there no photos of Orange during Hurricane Ike or after photos? Orange always seems to get left out. We people who live in Orange would like to see the after math of Ike. Like in 2005, Hurricane Rita, Orange barely got notice or mentioned.

I must say I agree with you. I live in New Orleans and I grew up in Orange. I have a real issue with the local and the national media. I heard lots about the area the day the storm hit and the day after then nothing. The only info I get now is from my family or this blog. I also go to KOGT.com and the orange leader but I have seen very little. I also do not understand why the national media has not been more present. Why are they not allowing the media to cover the clean up and the debris removal? I am so sick of hearing about Katrina and people here using it as an excuse to be lazy that I could just vomit. Jet nothing on Ike and the people suffering from his attack. Just unfair.

There are some Ike aftermath photographs of Orange, Tx. at http://www.klvi.com/pages/HurricaneWatch.html...

The City of Orange and Bridge City flooded severely.

FEMA, the U.S. National Guard and numerous organizations are in Orange, working hard daily, attempting to provide aid to those in need.

I'm so sorry to hear that, C Lucas. I'm happy to hear that Ms. Haas is alright. She is fortunate to have someone like you who cares for her. She will need all the help from friends and family that she can get right now.

I do not know if I am or not. We are a very large family and my grandfather had 11 brothers and sisters. I do not know if I am related. It would be interesting to know.

I am in Alabama right now staying with family. I live in BC on Clover street. I heard there is going to be a massive cleanup on Sunday. Not able to travel right now and I am very concerned about my home. Does anyone else know if I can have someone sent to my home and stand in for me to get help cleaning out my house? I made one trip to get some things out but with no help moving heavy furniture out by the road, and no where to stay to finish and lack of funds, I had to come back to Alabama. Thank you for any information.

is there a phone number you can be reached at? Several groups from various churches will be in this weekend to clean out homes. YOu will need someone there authorizing the clean-up.

Thank you bette for responding and the information. My son drove down and is getting information we need. We are suppose to put a need help sign in our front yard. But if you have any new information that will be helpful. Thank you I am trying to get down Monday hoping to meet with our claim adjuster, we did not have flood insurance, so I don't know what is going to be covered. I tried to send a phone number but this site would not allow me to. I will check for any updates. Thank you very much.

I was born and raised in Orange but moved away many moons ago. Just reading this blog post makes me homesick. Orange people are the best and nicest in all of Texas!

What ? Are you driving white folks out ?

I did not realise you are such a blatant racist. Is racism rife amongst Vidorians ?

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Capricorn

You're swayed by your emotions today, making you susceptible to other people's machinations. Are you putty in the hands of your beloved? Are you willing to do whatever, just to keep the peace? Watch out for the influence of another's black mood, or you'll soon start to feel just as miserable. Fortunately this strange mood won't last long.
