Violent Home Invasion: One shot during violent Milwaukee home i...

A home on Milwaukee's far northwest side was invaded by a group of individuals. One of the occupants in the house has been shot, and was transported to a local hospital.

this is the district where we have been having more and more problems... once i read the notice of the break-in's happening during the day, i knew it would come to this eventually... why are the cops not patrolling this area more?

i absolutely agree!! i live near that area, a little too close for comfort. this use to be a very nice and quiet area. within the last year or so, it has been overrun with crimes like this -- and also assaults, robberies, etc and the break-ins alone are overwhelming!! it is very clear we are lacking police presence PERIOD! last sept my son was robbed and assaulted by a small group of boys near 107th & Silver Spring -- when my son called 911 to report this, the police officer that showed up treated my son more like the criminal than the victim!! my son had my cellphone, which was stolen -- when i was able to retrieve the call log from our carrier, we had phone numbers to give to the police -- that police officer was NOT interested in anything we had to say, i called him numerous times and left messages -- NOT ONE call was ever returned! and since that incident, that police officer has NOT ONCE followed up with my son or us with stopping by to see how he was doing, how the "investigation" was going.
this city has some very serious issues and i feel A LOT of them start and end with our dist 4 police dept! they seem useless.
everyone should really listen to a police scanner on a friday and saturday night --- i think as a community, we would ALL be shocked to hear what our dispatchers are saying about US when WE are calling for help! that whole thing is no better.

Anyone seen any update to this news story today? I live in that area and would like more info both about how the break-in went down, and if there was any relationship between the intruders and occupants.

Outside of this snippet here, I haven't seen any details at all on any other news site in Milwaukee. Of course, plenty of stories about the Packer's grounds worker.

Anyone know where updates can be found?

I was wondering the same thing as Richard. I have still not heard any follow up to this story and wonder if this will be yet another story that will fail to be reported on further.

I wish there were fewer idiots who continually rob us of our security. I want to continue to go for walks with my children in this neighborhood and not have to worry about our safety.

I don't know these neighbors. That townhouse has had nothing but problems since the new owner took over. I know other neighbors have called the police and complained about past tenants dealing drugs and noise, but have never seen any action on the part of the dept. It takes em like 3 hours to get there and by then whatever was happening is long over and gone. Maybe we could get a few more cars coming through the neighborhood on a regular basis before it turns into a war zone?

Also if the landlord is reading this could you please screen your tenants better? I don't know if this was random, or if they were looking for a past tenant or if they knew the guys. What I do know is a criminal check does not cost that much and that life is precious and the value can not be measured. Take care of your responsibility to the community, and protect the value of your property!

Neighbors, I didn't know what was going on, I heard the noise but didn't investigate because I assumed it was a door slam or a car backfiring, but I like living here. I hate how close this was to my home. I will not make that assumption again. Please watch out for each other, I will be.
