Heard from a few different people that Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre wants to re-open the old Doneldo's Restraunt and bar on Homeville Road right above Duqane Village. It was a gas station too and still got gas prices for 89 cents.

The bar and restraunt closed down in 1996 (is that the right year?) cause of too much crime rate there.. but the gas station stayed open til like 2001.

it would be good for a famous person to come to this part of town and regenerize a restraunt that used to be one of the best. with as much money as he has he could make it way better than it used to be..i hope its true and he buys it

I was hoping for a strip club owned by "cowboy" Risha Jr. I guess it's too fancy for him.

Sorry folks, it is opening and gas will stay at 89 cents, but it's just for Diane Stanesic and friends. So basically it's just for her.

Do you realize if something is posted on the internet, it has to be true.

#4 coming to the former Donaldo's in West Mifflin. That is why he is dragging his feet getting into training camp. He is dotting the i's and crossing the t's in the tranaction in which he is acquiring Donaldo's and opening it up by the start of this NFL season.

I hear that Mr. Farve is going to call it #4's Bar & Grille Deli Cafe Alegro Bistro Sports Mecca.

I for one cannot wait for this great establishment to open.

I could definitely see Bret re-opening the old Doneldos restaraunt in West Mifflin. Why the heck not?

First of all, the location of the old Doneldos isn't exactly in a 'ghetto' or a high crime rate area. The building is still nice and isn't falling apart.

It may be better to open it up in West Mifflin. Yes, opening it up somewhere Downtown, South Side, Station Square etc will get it more exposure, but areas like that are more vulnerable to have a higher crime rate too.

Second, he was just in Pittsburgh last October when the Steelers and Vikings played each other. He may have friends in the Pittsburgh area (he is a popular guy dont forget) that may have pointed the place out to him.

Third, it is a well known fact that Favre is obsessed with football and is having a hard time walking away, and is often accused of knowing nothing else but football. It is also a well known fact that he has made ALOT of money throughout the years, and opening a chain of restauraunts like this across the country would be something good to invest in, he would still make money, and it can still keep him occupied.

Last but not least, they have been doing some work at the old Doneldos recently. They just put a new roof on the place within the last year, and every now and then you'll see trucks up there with people doing more work. Plus.. Favre opening it up here, he wouldn't have to pay as many taxes as he would opening it up in the city.

My question is, if he does open it, what does the ol' Gunslinger name his new business?

i know what building your talking about. the red brick building right up at the top of the hill by the traffic lights kidna in teh corner right?
favre wont make it a gas station again. they took the gas pumps out a few years ago. favre is a old cat and that building is pretty old fashioned looking but still nice at the same time. i could see why he'd be interested. weirder stuff has happened real talk

You people that say "ohh why would Bret come to an area that is a piece of shit etc." ...... because Bret can. Your average Joe from West Mifflin or Homestead wouldn't be able to do much with a building like Doneldo's.

But someone like Bret Favre with all the money he has, can really make it something.

Anybody that lived in the area in the late 80s and early 90s knew that Doneldo's was the place to be, and now that a multi-millionare wants to add on to it and make it better, I see only good things happening.

If a sports figure opens out a joint in West Mifflin, they will fail.
You'll be paying thru the nose for meals and liquor.
No $12.95 buffet or a $6.00 breakfast.
Look who bought the old Lemon Tree on RT 48,It was then changed to the Gold Rush. The old Lemon Tree was bought up by two pro football players,it lasted 2 years before going belly up.
The cost was too much for a blue collar town as Mckeesport.
West Mifflin is also a blue collar town.
You make the connection.
People in West Mifflin want a good meal for cheap prices.
Go downtown and see what Jerome Bettis wants for a hamburger and a mixed drink.
You better have a 20 to pay for that. Brett would be no different.
A classy resturant in West Mifflin will die just as quick as a Cadillac dealership would go bankrupt up at the old Sam's Club.
Maybe an Arby's or a Wendy's or an Eat N Park will fly in that location but a place owned by a pro athlete will crash just as fast as the stock market did.
Dont fool yourselves people.
The closet thing that Brett Farve got to this area was in the stadium in Pittsburgh and was very glad to leave also.

I say make it into a young crowd under 21 lounge.
Our kids have to loaf somewhere.
Keep them off the streets from beating old people.
