Long Branch City Councilman John R. 'Fazz' Zambrano pleaded guilty Thursday to accepting a $1,000 bribe from an FBI informant, and his lawyer said later Zambrano will resign from office.

Councilman Zambrano was also the City's assistant fire chief in
2003 when he accepted the bribe. How many emergency demolition contracts did he facilitate for fire-damaged buildings in Long Branch.

Remember, "Patsy" Townsend, a Mommouth County Deputy Fire Marshal
plead guilty for accepting a bribe for the same reason, steering emergency demolition work to contractors for fire damaged buildings. All this took place at the League of Municipalities in
Atlantic City in 2003 and 2004.
