I would like to ask why if you have left the Church and moved on with such better and happy lives, you can't move on. You seem hell bent to bash the Church, this sound like extreme bitterness! Just move on and live your life.
I am not the person you are addressing. Just another ex member.
It is not easy to let go of this church. Your whole family is there. You are cast out once you leave, your family is gone forever without anymore contact. All you've known and loved is gone as well. You should catch up on cult religions and what they do to your soul.

I was raised to be a follower but never believed or joined. My family has been destroyed and divided for years. I have witnessed many deaths of young children, women and adults from simple illnesses. One was caused by a father abusing his son. Idaho coroners do not autopsy follower deaths. This was covered up by church members to protect the church. I will lobby for
any laws to protect children from religious abuse and neglect. Unless you have lived through the terror of this religion you will never understand the hold they have on you.

Go to suzanneshumaker.blogspot.com to read from current members to ex-members, from neighbors, friends and community members of Oregon City. There are several posts on this church, and people's comments that can answer many questions.

I recently ended a relationship with someone from the FCC. I was appaled to see the hurt and the devestation that this individual carried with him. The church used guilt and fear to brainwash him. He watched his young uncle and his young grandmother die of curable diseases and afflictions. FCC members are murderes plain and simple. It amazes me that in this day and age things like this still occur. I am looking to talk more about this and find out more about what I can do to help those who are interested in leaving this cult.
How can you date them if they don't even socialize with you? i have a few members from the church on my road and i think this guy is really cute but he wont talk to me and now he's ignoring me.

i wish this cult would be disbanded by federal law. i know several children who have died needlesly. one 17 year old in my town died from strep throat and a 3 month old infant died from what apeared to be an ear infection. its a shame these parents face no consequences and still walk free and are alowwed to have more children.

I have heard quite a bit about this church. I am not a member nor have I ever been a member, but I drive by it every day. There was a story in the Oregonian a while back about this "church", and how two of its members didn't take their daughter to the hospital when she needed medical care. She ended up dying. I'm not sure if the parents ever got prosecuted. I wouldn't consider this place a church, it seems like more of a cult to me. What a horrible place. Brainwashing its members to believe that prayer will cure its sick members...discusting!!

You will never know the terror that children of this cult endure....If you ever become friends with any children of this faith...do them a favor and monitor for abuse and report it... I wish someone had cared enough about me to help...everyone seems to just turn a deaf ear to it because of religious freedom..I am 60 now and still have nightmares...it is never ok for children to suffer at the hands of people who are supposed to protect them.

My husband is one of the Shippy's. A family member of his recently died from what I believe to have been cervical cancer. She was only 35, had many children, and endured MUCH suffering and pain before she passed. Her husband, and young children watched their mother slowly die, in a agonizing way. Another relative of his recently lost a baby due to the mother having a breech birth, and not going to the hospital. The baby was suffocated and killed. After nine months of living in the womb, this sweet baby, capable of feeling, and emotions, died only minutes away from being born. It breaks my heart that she could make such a selfish, selfish decision. They are "literal" followers of the Bible, but apparently have no respect for the sanctity of life. Do they really think that God wants them or their children to endlessly suffer in agony and fear, instead of receiving basic medical treatment? Do they really teach their children, that God is a god of punishing, rules, and sadistic practices? How sad it makes me to think that they no nothing of our God of love, of forgiveness, or of grace. The FOC community is a community of selfish lies, gossip, and fabricated doctrine. They have been told so many ridiculous stories, they don't know what to believe. One story that is told, is that one white man, looked at another white man naked, and so God made that man black, which stated the "Black" race. The children are brainwashed, and will defend something that they know nothing about! The ones that I know that have gone to receive medical care, are terrified, because they have been taught it will send them to Hell. Their parents feed them a constant stream of hogwash, and I have even heard them talk about verses in the Bible, that do not exist! Their parents tell them random ghost stories just to instill fear into them at a young age. This "religion" is not based on the Bible, or on a relationship with Christ. It is based on the crooked, fabricated, stories of the cult members, that they weave together to make a web of confusing and condemning beliefs and rules. If you have done your research, you will see that everyone is related to everyone, which yields a gross truth: intermarriage. Because they can't marry those "of the world" they marry each other to keep their church populated. My husbands sister told him, that because he married me, he was condemned to a eternity in Hell. This is why so many of their children are deaf, blind, have cleft lips, have rare birth defects, and why some are so sickly. The incest is at such a point, that each member of this cult is related to the next. Cousins marry cousins, Uncles marry nieces, It is putrid. My husband is so uncertain in his beliefs, but always seems tied down to what his mom said, what his grampa said, what "they" said. Never what the Bible says. Never what God says. They are taught. Even though he is a ex-ish member of FOC, he still is drawn to what he was raised on constantly. He doesn't think you can have assurance that you are going to Heaven. How sad this makes me. I pray daily for his eyes to be opened, and I hope that we are near his freedom from this "cult's" affect on him. His family is so divided, and their is constant bickering and petty disputes. Nothing good can come from a man made religion, and a man made God. The fact that their are still people unnecessarily dying, and so many people still being brainwashed to blindly live this "religion", truly bothers me and frustrates me to a core. FOC members and families are so secretive, yet rumors, stories, and lies spread like wildfire on a daily basis. This is a group of such blindly indoctrinated sheep, that should one fall over a cliff, the rest will follow. When will they be fully exposed? When will we protect those sweet, innocent children and babies? And when will these people wake up from the twisted mindset they have been raised in? How many more people must die, before something is done? Oh, How my heart hurts.

If people are concerned about the abuse of these member's children , start lobbying for stricter laws dealing with religious maltreatment...vote against or fire coroners who turn a blind eye because the child who died was born to a follower family. That child may have siblings in need of help. It is hard to move on knowing so many kids are being abused they same way I was. Please help them. Speak up and stand up for those with no choice or voice.

My family went to the Lake Church in Idaho when I was a child. Luckily when I was broke a bone as a child my Grandfather, who was called to pray for me, told my Father to take me to the hospital.

I remember as a child asking my Mom why the boys got to pray in church first. She told me because that is the way it is done. We left the church when I was older but my parents never when to another church.

When I grew up and became a true Christian in a healthy church, I read the book of First Corinthians and discovered that the Followers take this one book of the BIBLE literally. Most of their doctrine can be found in that one book of the BIBLE. This is NOT a healthy church.

In reading previous post, it seems that the Oregon branch is stricter than the Idaho branch.

I am seeking members or X-members who would be willing to answer some interview questions via email. I am working on a project that dives into controversial religions and as I grew up in Oregon City I am hoping to use FCC for my project. Please email me at mck5war

I'm just wondering where exmembers get together or how they keep in contact???
I just have a comment. Couples in the church are approved for adoption of children not born in the church.
What are these agencies doing? Don't they do a complete background check?
I know couples who have adopted and after child is home they don't get shots for simple things ie chicken pox whooping cough...etc.
So check into this have any adopted children die?
Which agencies deemed these couples eligible.

All religion is mental illness. To believe that an invisible giant in the sky is watching over you is a fantasy. Time to grow up and accept the reality that you're on your own.

Some religions are just a little crazier than the rest but all are crazy. The devastation that religion has caused in incalculable.

Unfortunately due to our fouling of our own nest, we humans won't have enough time to evolve away from this stone age nonsense.

I was once a member of the Follower's but left the church years ago....I was engaged but reasons beyond my control the marriage was cancelled ..2 weeks before. I was young, I was upset, I left everything I knew. For a teenager it was drama and it was difficult. Lost all family I knew and all friends I had and my love. I was engaged and very much in love. All of that was gone after I left. I had to make my own way and did that with God's help. God has always watched over me and protected me all through the years. During my stay in the church so many people were so good to me. There are so many many loving people in the church. I never heard the stories of abuse but I did have problems with members dying all the time..the babies called blue babies would die.. babies needed oxygen to breath but no oxygen was had, midwifes did their best but were not doctors...That was a problem for me. I secretly knew I could not have a baby in the church. And there were the social clicks, the popular girls who controlled and kept the pretty girls out. There were many hypocrits but most were very giving and loving. Still to this day I remember those members.

I am not a follower of christ member but my fiances family are. I have witnessed the death and agony that some of the members have gone through because they refuse medical care. I have heard his mother cry because she took tylenyol once and she was in so much pain but she felt god was punishing her for using medication. It is very sad but I don't know what I can do.

There is nothing you can do. If your fiancÚ is a member do yourself a favor and get out of it. If your bf was born into it & you have children they will be at risk for birth defects and health problems. They do not believe in marrying outside of the church and have inbred for generations. You will never be accepted by his family unless you join the church. Are you strong enough to stand by and watch as they let little children and babies die without medical care? I have been associated with this church for over 60 years. I am related to almost all of it's members in one way or another. My ancestors started it. I have attended over 150 funerals. Many were for children. The way I was raised and the things I have seen haunt me every day. It is a dangerous cult not a loving church as they want people to believe. Look at the news in Idaho. Look in the cemeteries. Ask yourself if you really want to be part of this. Your children will be indoctrinated and harmed by these people even if you don't join. Talk to ex-members, listen to their stories and educate yourself about their ways. The abuse is hard to describe unless you were born into it and lived it.
