On the radio they said they caught them in the morehead area. They had guns, jewelry, and cash on them at the time of arrest.

Woodsbend Youth Development Center is a juvenile camp for juveniles that have broken the law, or continue breaking status offenses. They range in age from 13--18 years old. No, they do not house the most dangerous juvenile offenders in the state, but none of those boys that are there are saints. I have worked there, and know alot of the staff still working there, and they do not harm those boys in any way. It is a camp for these boys to get treatment and work on their past problems. Yes, they have all broken the law at some point in time, and that is why they are all there. I do not believe that the 2 boys that escaped have been arrested yet.

Two escapees from Woodsbend Boys Camp apprehended,,they caught with items stolen from the Fannin that was robbed a fire set two,, How's that for a FACT

Date of News Release: 10/26/2010

(Morehead, Ky.)-- On October 26, 2010 at 1533 hours, Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a trespassing complaint at 6155 KY519, Morehead, Kentucky. Trooper Scott Caudill and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Tommy Jones responded to the scene. A search of the scene revealed two juveniles, who had previously escaped from the Woodsbend Boys Camp in West Liberty, Kentucky. Trooper Mike McPherson had investigated the escape of two juveniles on October 11, 2010, and along with Trooper Charles Bowling, arrived on scene to verify their identity and to execute Governor's Warrants for Escape Second Degree on both juveniles. The two juveniles were arrested by Trooper Mike McPherson and transported to the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center for lodging. The two juveniles are also suspects in burglaries occurring in the area and were in possession of stolen firearms, jewelry, and other items. Charges in reference to the burglaries are pending at this time. The case remains under investigation by Trooper Scott Caudill.

Not everyone that goes to woodbends boys camp come out to be fire bugs and rogs. Some come out and grow up to be good people.
My husband was at this camp for almost 4 years as a teen . and now he is on his 30's. he has not been in anything since he came out . i know i married him not much after this . we have been married 17 teen years now and we got 4 kids and he has a good job. I do believe that they do good at this camp for young boys. not everyone has someone at home to teach them right from wrong but here they will learn it . so don't put down the camp for what one or two boys break out and do .
I think there are so kids that you can't help no matter how much you want to cause they are to far gone, but there are a few that there is still hope for and at this camp they can get the same help my husband did and grow up to be great at what ever they choose to be. thank you for taking the time to read this your's forever j.s.

You are correct. Most of those boys never had any guidance in their entire lives. Left to fend for themselves the best way they knew how. To lump them all together is ridculous. Yes there are some who wont ever be reformed, but many will be and go to be upstanding citizen. Maybe if some people took a step back and looked at the way these kids were raised or the horrible things that people did to them, they'd see exactly why they ended up in detention to begin with!
