If the Pentecostals, Baptists and Methodists, especially the Margaret Stacy Circle of Snobs, would stop trying to force their views on everyone else, maybe we could have some progress. Most of them drink anyway!! And, everyone knows it! Oh, and let's not forget that our former county attorney was part owner of Freight Station Liquors in Morehead, which paid his way through law school. But, he was against the county going wet!! Imagine that! Is that a hypocrite or what???
Best if only the city of west liberty wet,,, not enough police out in the county to police arising issues,, in town however there is 24/7 coverage. Also if only sold in town then those that wanted beer / whiskey would have to travel to town ,, and while they here it possible the buy big mac and gallon of gas..

It also important maybe extremely importantthat too many licenses are not issued,, This wet thing is not the money maker it thought to be ,,,it is very easy to have more outlets than the community can support,, too many outlets, means too little money so you find dumps and filthy places struggling to survive, then they cut corner,, like selling to minors or after hours sales,, titty dances and other inventive ways to pay the bills,, it important to limit number of outlets

Absolutely. A wet vote for Morgan county would keep money in our county, bring in new money, create jobs, and help our local economy. People are going to drink if they want to no matter where they have to buy it, might as well keep that cash at home.
yes,if not,the money will just help a different county.your post is a smart one and i hope other people are like you.

it wouldn't matter how you voted, the election would be rigged just like the RECC board election was rigged, like other elections in this county. Helps to have the circuit judge in your pocket to throw out the results, doesn't it? And he goes to church!!!!!! Hope he gives a generous offering to help ease his soul.

Even if it was put to a vote, and the people voted wet, they would do what they can to make sure it never comes to pass.

I often believe that a lot of individuals in this town want to see it turn into a dust town. They want to preach their religion, rule with hypocrisy, and cry when it all crumbles down. The only time the lot of them would approve anything is only if it served them in some way. Whether that be in perks, a blind eye turned their way, or something under the table for their vote. Bleh

I don't even drink anymore and In my opinion, anyone who thinks making Morgan County wet would only cause people to drink more, are silly. If I want to drink, driving an extra 10 minutes to Morehead isn't going to stop it. In fact, there has been MANY times I needed grocerys etc and decided to just go ahead and go to Morehead to get alcohol while I was out. That took money from our local resturants since I ate while I was there, taxes they could've gained off my alcohol and money from our local grocery store since I could get both at Wal-mart. Anyone that is going to drink and drive will do it anyways, whether they get it from here or go to Morehead to the bar or to Krogers to get it. Local wet counties are just enjoying money our little town could definitely use!

I will have to agree with every thing above and you said it aaa551212, Look we as a Morgan County need to understand times has changed more so than ever, from my understanding. This would bring more money!!!!! Jobs and no telling what else. If we did go wet though I would be for not having beer sales inside of westliberty keep it out of City Limits Due to Eyes and hearsay about pepole just like this whole topix thread. I just want to say that i would vote yes for the fact that this would bring jobs in.

To vote a city wet without the rest of the county it has to be a certain size and I think West Liberty is.

I have thought for years that Morgan should go wet! There is nothing here anymore! Heck, even the theater is going to wind up closed. Morgan county should take the opportunity to get the taxes and money that this would create. I don't drink much, just an occasional thing, but I certainly would appreciate not having to go to wolfe county or Morehead to get it when I want it.

I do not see anything wrong with buying from a package store,, There anit enough law to have a bar in wheel rim, Cannel city, ezel crockett and lower sandlick,,

But package store in the city limits would work pretty good I'd ,, except for those so uppity / too proud to be seen buying,, It cant be voted by the city,, by the county or by precinct , just takes a few signatures filed at clerks office before dead line

Anyone ever know Steve bliffen if you really did you were lucky,! this world would be a lot better if we had a few more with somewhere close to the character he had! whether you agreed with what he stood for or not. if you really knew him you can't denie that he. Did what he thought was right no matter what the cost! And never waivered

I agree it should be wet people are going to drink and it dont make any difference where they have to go to get it look at all the money that goes out of this county to other countys because they cant buy what they want to drink here I hope the county does vote wet and goes wet because we need it and hey it might just help with money and like the other person said maybe stop them from drinking on the road. I will vote for the county to go wet.

It is not proposed for morgan county only west liberty limits and it wont really be wet, moist by be a better term, expect alocohol sold from package store, pump & saves By the drink in Restaurants only,, no taverns, however the restaurants must demonstrate sells of food much more than alcohol,, expect number of licenses, their locations as well as their signage to be restricted, I am quite sure there won’t be a drunk found at the corner of walk & don’t walk and if –when one found I think we know what will happen,, this alcohol thing not a real problem, it allows a few of our people to build business here rather in other burgs,

I vote yes

anytime you guys want to vote wet for morgan county take a minute and remember when wolfe frist went wet and a little skanky bar popped up in every old building and on every side road. IF you think voting wet will get drunks off the road..you need to rethink. All it will do is make the roads twice as bad when they are all heading home from a night at whatever little hole is closest to them.
you're just wrong and uninformed

Think about it people, there is nothing in West Liberty to even shop in West Liberty for. People are move to other areas because they aren't building back in West Liberty. Theres no jobs in Morgan County so most people shop before they even come home to Morgan. Another this is we have enough problem with drugs without adding to liquor stores. There is a generation coming up that a majority of the people are so burnt out that they wont have a brain to even run the county and it is so sad to think about this. I vote no and will always vote no. jmo
