I can't understand why people want to say such terrible things about someone. The stuff that has been on here is nowhere near the truth...why make up lies on someone...jealousy I suppose? Chris was chosen to be the coach...haters accept it. You don't have to agree or support the decision. He deserves a chance just like every other coach has been given. No matter what some people say about him or how much they put him down the truth is he is the coach and I know he will go above and beyond to make this a great football season for the boys and school. If you feel the need to keep putting nonsense on here to make yourself look like a jealous and insecure person then go ahead...I guarantee Chris won't lose any sleep over it....he is above this. Congratulations Chris!

this guy is no coach. this is such a bad hire. we will be the joke of the district again. i feel so bad for the kids. such a bad, bad hire.

Guys, Chris Smith was hired for the job. The only candidates were Mark Havens and Chad Johnson. Mark had his chance, and from what I hear the boys last year, got kicked out of a resteraunt and made all who are from Morgan county look bad. Kids will be kids, but Mark was in charge of them, and this should not have happened. Chad Johnson is extremely quiet, he is a good guy in my opinion, but I just don't think he is head coaching materials. Chris may not be either, but the bottom line is, he deserves a chance. If you don't want your kid to play for him, then fine, that is your choice don't let them. And Chris Smith's son is a good player, and would get to play a lot regardless of whoever got the coaching position. He has not even had the first practice yet, so the best thing for all of us to do is just give him a chance. If you don't support him fine, you don't have to. But the bottom line is he got the job. Even if you don't support the new hire, at least come out and support our boys playing. Good luck Chris Smith and the Morgan county middle school football team.

We all have opinions and rights to our opinions. Chris has evrybody elses opinions deleted. Your not the only one with an opinion. I was no Mark fan but YES it will be much much worse. Chris has no dealing with people skills at all. Mark did have a wining season, YES they should have done better. They will not win a game or even be able to line up correctly. Out of the 3, they hired the worste one and none of them were great. MARK MY WORDS it will be an absolute joke. MARK MY WORDS they wont win a game. Sad, very sad. What was Smiths qualifications over the other guys? The only chance they got is if Turner runs it, thats their only chance.

Swallow your pride Smith, let turner run it. If you don't, it will be a LONG year. i'm sure he will let you fill up the water jugs and at least look like your coaching.

Too funny...everyone knows the posts from campton are Mark. Guess he just can't accept the fact that he was given more than one chance to prove himself and he failed miserably. The school only interviewed him because they had to. He is just pissed that they knew he wouldn't and couldn't do any better than he tried to do before. I bet Chris wouldn't mind one bit talking to you Mark about the things you have said about him but I bet you will just keep letting that jealousy eat you up and hide behind your computer...what a man! Accept it buddy you didn't get the job...the school finally came to their senses!

Chris Smith is no coach..
#32 Jun 30, 2012
Havens had a winning season every year. Smith will not win a game. I have talked to 10 different people who cannot believe they hired Smitty Smith.
OH YEAH, by the way, ALL middle schools are under the KHSAA effective 2012. This means 64 college credit hours are required to be a head coach.

this WILL BE looked into and checked on.

Wow this is all pathetic! Everyone saying that they won't win this year I'm just gonna say..Wait and see!(:
#38 Jul 3, 2012
I will be surprised if they win a game as well. Not a very smart hire. Very shocked at this hire to be honest.
Honestly, very shocked.
#39 Jul 3, 2012
Bad hire, terrible. He DOES NOT know how to make it a great football season. The guy is OFFICIALLY the worste hire ever. Mrs. Barnett needs to step in on this one.

) Waiver of 64-hour requirement
In the event that the member school is unable to staff head or assistant coaching positions in any sport or sport activity (including cheerleading) with a Level 1 or Level 2 individual,
Havens was a level 2. rules were broke.
#41 Jul 3, 2012
You have to hire a level 1 or 2 if they apply against non-level. RULES WERE BROKE. Havens has a legitamate complaint.
#42 Jul 3, 2012
It's middle school football...not the NFL! Why in the world would people get so upset. This is utterly ridiculous. Chris is a good guy and my bet is he'll do a good or better job than Havens and you can bet your bottom dollar he won't allow a bunch of youngsters to be thrown out of a restaurant because their out of control. Apparently, if the restaurant story is true, they need someone who can be a role model for them anyway and Chris will do that!
