As a fire fighter myself and who was there on the scene, here is the REAL TRUTH. My husband was one of the three, and he was not "almost killed". He got over-heated and had carbon monoxide. It is extremely hot in their turn out gear plus the weather that day was hot. One of the other fire fighter feel through the 2nd floor, which can happen to ANY fire fighter who is fighting a multiple level building. The third fire fighter twisted his knee on the ladder while extiguishing the fire with a hose. All three of these fire fighters as well as ALL fire fighters know the dangers in fighting fires. All three were admitted to ARH for observation due to elevated levels of carbon monoxide, and released the very next day. Jody called me at the hospital every 15 mins getting status on all three. He was very concerned about the well-being of the fire fighters at the hospital and on the scene. Jody is a GREAT assistant chief and truly cares for ALL fire fighters.

so before anyone start rumors, know the truth first.

That is their job to fight fires and some times they get hurt doing a job that you wont do and i wouldn't do it for nothing but I'm glad some do this for us and if they get hurt then its the beast of the job that hurt them so dont say any thing about any one fighting fire till you face the beast yourself and shut up .

i sat and listened on the scanner at the job the firemen and women did with the size of that fire, the heat, location and support from other fire departments were great. if you don't know the house that burned, it was a very large house and the heat from the fire and the outside temp was extremly dangerous for anyone. don't go dogging anyone they are out there to help people and do a very good job at it. thanks blackwater fire department and the rest of the firefighter. were proud of you. their not paid to do this so remember to support your fire department. it could be you that needs the help the next time! we respect you all! THANKS

As a fire fighter at Blackwater, I want to say Thank you for your support. I do traffic control on a scene, although I do not wear the full turn out gear, it was extremely hot even on me. If anyone would like to volunteer their time to help save someone in any weather condition, then become a member at your local fire department. All of Morgan county fire departments have training every Thursday at the Ambulance service from fire extinguishers to ladder training to chemical fires... Training for each of us is very thorough. We do have alot of on hands training as well. We volunteer our time to make our communities safer and to protect the people living there. No one is forced to do anything that do not want to do... Again the word VOLUNTEER means exactly that. We are not paid and neither are the chiefs down to the captains are paid. It is strictly volunteer. Thanks again for encouraging words about the Blackwater VOLUNTEER Fire Department.
