Shut down the Moonan apartments for code violations. Do your job. Those rat nests continue to flourish because of lack of code enforcements. It is heart breaking to see that small children are being raised in what amounts to a chicken coup. Please do something.

The problem is, there are no codes. I hear they are working on it. Many people have been saying the same thing to the mayor. How many more fires do we need? There are little children living on those dumps. Is it going to take a death to get these people to do something? Maybe we should bring the state into Boonville to see the condition if some of these dumps. The land lords are being paid by the taxpayers. Another dump is the house next to the Boonville herald on Schuyler. I hear the druggies from the burned out apartment building are now living in that dump!

Who is the zoning person ? Does anyone know. Iam a firefighter and I know we had a fire like that in a building like thos and a doorway was blocked by bags of garbage and old clothes . We need these buildings inspected and the owners fined if there not up to code. And if it not fixed then board it up.

I have a question maybe someone can answer. From what I understand several of the tenants renting from Moonans get rental assistance from Oneida County Social Services....Doesn't the county inspect these apartments to make sure they meet fire and or health -safety codes? It would seem they would have to meet some kind of standard for the county to allow assistance to be paid! It's state law is it not that every rental apartment must have a smoke and carbon monoxide detector? It seems to me that something could be done to clean these places up so they are actually livable for crying out loud! Seems that someone is sucking off the system all right and it's not the tenants!

I don't know how it works for Oneida Co. but I have a friend that had a duplex she rented to housing asst and she had to have an inspection to make sure everything was to code. And yes it is a state law that rental properties have to have fire/carbon detectors installed.I also wonder if her electrical is up to code? I wonder if the town just ignores the state of her buildings because of who she is? I realize she is elderly but she owns and rents out a lot of apts around town and none of them are very nice. Given that she is receiving payment for them, I don't see why she couldn't do some work.

As for who is the zoning person..not sure but a quick phone call to the town office would solve that. Also as a firefighter, maybe this is an issue that could be brought up at one of the meetings. They present a safety hazard for not just the tenants but for responders in an emergency situation.

It's not the zoning guys fault. From what I hear, he wants to do a good job. He's new and he knows the problem. There have been very few codes to enforce and the previous code officer refused to enforce anything. He said that it wasnt worth it. The village ignored the problem for years until recently because some residents have been demanding they do something. They are finally updating the village codes.

I believe if there are kids that a person comes in to make sure there is enough room and beds for kids this is how it used to be I don't know what the rules are now

That's all fine. Have you gone to Chamber of Commerce meetings? Have you gone to the Village board with your ideas? You don't just PUT stores on Main Street. Who is going to open these businesses you propose? Will they make money? Who will support them? It's easy to throw out complaints, it's another thing to do something about it. You could start by learning the English language.

Coolestguyintown should've finished high school. By the looks of it, he didn't get out of the first grade.
