I can't seem to get any real answers from the local officals regarding this question. Is it "Rumor Has It" or is it "Truth" that a few families back on the Mud Lake Road have Beaver Fever ie: Giardiasis, from contaminated water sources. Living on the road we are hearing varying stories. Some say they are sick because of the water, and that a member of the DEC told them that beaver fever was their problem. I phoned DEC to verify this and find out if ALL Mud Lake residents should have their water tested any I just got one colossal run around. I've give up trying to find the truth with them and thought Topix viewers might have some information.

All streams in New York have some girardia in them. Mud Lake is not contaminated any more or less than other streams. Cases of girardia have to be reported to the public health depatment. 1 man claims to have girardia but he had cow monure spread around his well 2 years in a row. Girardia was not present but he went up and down the street scareing people before he had any facts at all. I have the facts. End of story.

There is so beaver fever on Mud Lake Rd and now on todays radio - WBRV the state announcement that there is also the Giant Hog Weed.

There are huge beaver dens in Mud Lake and the DEC won't let them take them down. That is what is causing all the trouble. Wonder what the DEC says about taking out the Hog Weed.

The state doesn't offer any help in removing it. They tell you the phone them ONLY so they can keep track in there data base where it is growing.

Some helpful angency. NOT
