Building design to have 3 stories

Dec 22, 2010 Full story: Watertown Daily Times 14

Lewis County officials are moving forward with plans to build an $11 million, three-story office building - with an unfinished top floor dedicated solely to future needs - next to the Public Safety Building on outer Stowe Street.

Too bad the morons didn't have sense enough to do that a few years ago instead of investing in that albatross of a court house. If some of them had a little more hair, they would have had the balls to stand up to that bossy judge that they let undermine our privilege of home rule. He needed somebody to tell him to go to hell. To spend 11 million now is a big waste. Office space? For what?----handing out welfare checks to lazy low lifes and drug addicts? Enough already!

I agree, just more money spent for what, just because they wanna? How about giving a break to the taxpayers that are funding these spending sprees for wants, not needs.

A 3 story building is needed on the busy corner... It seems like it'd be a better fit there than on Stowe St. Add some public parking and maybe downtown could start to grow again.

Do we all want lower taxes??? Here's how...
Merge the Town and Village of Lowville. Do not build another municipal building... relocate the village offices to the town offices on Stowe Street. Get rid of the Lowville Village PD. Have the sheriff's office patrol the village. You could even hire one village police officer to the Sheriff's office and still save alot of $. Get rid of the worthless trail coordinator and economic development director. The clubs can handle the trails and we have no economic development so why pay someone to do nothing. There are a heck of alot of ways to bring down our taxes but our leaders don't have the guts or common sense to do it.

Very good suggestions! It won't happen though. Check out my post in regard to "What is lacking in Lewis County Government".

It is:
1. brains
2. balls

I don't see that changing. Nobody here is getting any smarter in spite of past mistakes. Nobody here appears to be growing a pair.
Nuff said. But hell, I'm just a doosh bag---what do I know?

Lower some more of your taxes, get rid of Snowbelt housing, and the stupid recipe part of cooperative extension. Keep the dairy support, get rid of all the rest. Make people on welfare pee into a cup before they get their checks. Dirty pee, no check. If you're getting relief, you should have to do community work like shovel sidewalks downtown, paint the grandstand at the fairgrounds, sweep the floors and clean the bathrooms in the courthouse. If our elected officials only had balls.....

Dont stop there......I can think of at least 50 more "departments" and "specialized" individuals that need to be dismantled and dismissed. The message we send our legislatures is loud and clear...every year...WE CAN'T AFFORD TO SUPPORT THOSE WHO ARE NOT HELPING TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES! WE DON'T NEED REDUNDANCY OF SERVICES...WE CAN'T AFFORD IT!!!!!!!!

They just choose not to listen.

It's about time somebody took some jobs away from the public sector! Who the hell is the CSEA union unionized against? It is you and me....the taxpaying public. They are breaking the backs of those in the private sector. A lot of public jobs are just like welfare.....do little or nothing and get a regular check on the backs of people who really DO work.

Amen....we have too many unionized public employees, period. Government has gotten too big to support, there needs to be a shift in jobs back to the private sector. At least in the private sector an employee has to compete to keep their job or they can be replaced by someone more competent.

The population of the county shrinks, the number of private sector jobs shrink and the government has grown to the point that they need a 3 story building to keep up with things.
