This is very concerning and distressing in terms of the areas economy. Hopefully things will improve soon.

We don't need out of state stores coming into Maine and opening up. Kennebunk Maine has Garden Street Market which is a small locally owned grocery store, there is no need for some big box supermarket to come to town and try to put them out of business.

I live closer to Garden St. Market than Stop and Shop so it is very convenient in that sense, however I have purchased many products from that store, such as frozen pizzas with mold on them...that to me is disgusting..Something that is supposed to be frozen has mold on it? I am sad to see that there isn't another store around. Personally I think stop and shop smells bad in the mornings especially, and it is overpriced, but I've yet to buy frozen pizzas from that place with mold on them...

lggster you are correct Garden street Market is owned by Hannaford. I am just wondering when people are going to wake up and realize that we can't stop growth forever. This is still a large hit for our economy, and that we did not need. Oh yeah, but better for over 100 people to lose their job, then let real competition come into the state so that businesses like Hannaford don't rip us off! Granted stop and shop was a little more expensive but I knew that I was getting quality food for my family. I cannot say the same for Hannaford.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Scorpio

If you haven't seen certain people during the past few days, how about inviting them over for a drink or a meal? You're feeling sociable and will enjoy doing some light entertaining although you'll draw the line at anything too strenuous. It's a lovely day for being in familiar surroundings with some familiar faces, even if all you do is flop on the sofa.
