While I really think this will be voted down I am more interested to see the TOTAL number of voters that come out.

It's too bad the voting times couldn't be more convenient for the residents of WI who work. Speaking of which, aren't the parents who work the ones who depend most on the busses to safely bring their children to and from school each day? Hmmmmmm

Your comment would make it appear that either you don't do the working/commuting/cook dinner/eat dinner/check homework/religion/sports practice/juggle or perhaps you have someone to help you.

Not having early morning voting times makes it APPEAR that the district doesn't want to make it easy for working parents-the same working parents who depend on the busses to safely bring their children to and from school each day to vote on the bussing issue.

Wrong, it's important so my kids will either eat later, go to practice late or do their homework later then usual. It takes 5-10min to run in and vote and I always go at night anyway so my kids can go with me and know what it means to vote. Your comment would make it appear that you are just finding another thing to complain about.

Wrong. Reread my post - I never complained, merely pointed out the truth.

I'm glad that you're voting tonight. Freedom of speech and the freedom to vote are both very important rights in America.

See you at the polls!:)

I am pissed that I even have to go to this vote. If you see a boe member or admin hanging around, make sure you have a little talk.

You people crack me up. We are on the same side with this but you all cant stand to be called out on your complaints, bitching whatever. You are all a bunch of negative people and I really feel sorry for you. Please explain whoever thinks my first post is spam or off topic. I know it will be voted down I am interested in seeing the total number of votes. How is that spam or off topic or is it just the fact that someone other than Rich, Irene, Cathy, Wendy or Jessica actually commented on this subject.

I'll answer you fairly. You may be on the same side with this, but you seem to think, from what I am reading, that because you differ with others, that they are the ones complaining and "bitching".
You sound self righteous and holier than thou.
I know it takes all kinds and everyone has their own agenda. I can respect that, as long as mine is respected too. It feels like it's your JOB to come here and mediate. It's not, ya know that right? Rich, Irene, Cathy, Wendy, Jessica, Peter, and Paul are entitled to feel the way they do, and we have no way of knowing why they feel so strongly, but put it this way, there isn't a http://skoolwatch.tripod.com/id6.html created for no good reason. The Commissioner of Ed doesn't have hundreds of complaints/decisions on his website because school disricts are so on the up ad up. We now have a West Islip citizens board and that didn't get created because we live in the land of milk and honey. FYI, people are not happy for legit reasons and YOU aren't the silence police, the thought police or the PC police, OKAY!

I guess you told me. I didnt differ with anyone, I said the polls are open until 8pm why is Wendy complaining. She told me I must have help or not work. How dare she assume that about me. We are all entitled to our opinion and sorry to say that I think we are not in the majority. I truly think most of WI are not mad about the BOE's decision but we will have to wait until May to find out.

Differing by saying that everyone is bitching and complaining. She did not tell you that you must have help or not work. The word she chose was APPEAR, because you made it sound as though jocking you and your children's schedule around is a solution we can all work out if it's that important to us, and even bring our children to give them an eduction on voting as well.
I see why Wendy is complaining, it started at 12 PM and is going to 8 PM. So in reality, the streets leading to the high school will be jammed packed with cars when school gets out because there wasn't a hug turnout when I was there during the day.

The few hours they did offer to vote were enough to do the trick! The NO's have it~ great news!!
What probably aided a little was the baseball pics. being taken in the highschool cafeteria across from the gym. Much traffic, many parents.
Many of whom I'm sure are tired of the BOE taking from the children!!
Next move new BOE?? Fingers crossed.

Any West Islip resident that works an 8 hour day and commutes 2 hours back and forth to New York City is absent from West Islip for a 12 hour period of time. So any voting session should always be open for more than twelve hours. Normal voting hours are from 6 am to 9 pm. Having the polls open only from 12 to 8 disenfranchised a portion of our population for no good reason. Good for you that you made it out to vote in those hours. Some in this community, yet again, weren't afforded a choice in the matter.

WI Resident; 'called out on your complaints'? WTF? The woman said to bad the voting times weren't longer to help out working people's schedules. That's not complaining. She made the observation about the coincidence of working people depending on bussing for their kids and the same working people being not being able to vote in time. By the by, you shouldn't be calling anyone negative. Just take a look at the first word of your next post. Can't get any more negative than the word "Wrong". The people you name aren't doing anything so horrible. If you don't agree with them say so or don't log on and you won't be so annoyed. But stop slamming every person who speaks up.
