I cant coach here anymore

I have coached baseball in West Islip for 12 years. I was involved a lot more during the early years. I'm sorry to say it but this league is a JOKE!!!! When I first started I was surrounded by SOME gentleman. As the years went on, it has become a joke. I have to say I am just about done. People keep forgetting this is ABOUT THE KIDS!!! For you parents that are trying to relive your childhood, shame on you. What I witnessed on the field Sunday was an absolute disgrace. I witnessed a parent verbally attack a child to the point where he left the mound crying and not wanting to play anymore. He was screaming at him that he hit his kid on purpose. IT TOOK A LOT FOR ME TO KEEP MY COMPOSURE. If their weren't kids there I would have knocked his teeth out. Karma is a b!tch big guy, your day will come, I promise you that. It really is a soap opera. Just to give you an example of what your dealing with, last year at the baseball breakfast the president gave an award out to honor a man for his hard work and all he has done for W.I.L.L. That man was thrown out of the league and banned from coaching. Is it me or do they live for DRAMA. I can go on and on with what I have witnessed but I'm getting to aggravated while typing....... Good luck to you all!!!

how is it the leagues fault that a PARENT attacked the boy who was pitching? The league should definetly step in and prevent that parent from attending games, but I dont see how it is the leagues fault. And I was at the breakfast,I know chris hillier to whom you are referring to. He was NOT thrown out of the league, but choose to move towards helping the basketball program in the school district. This was his choice. and to the poster below: Chris rummo and steve suggamele were not involved in this altercation mentioned above. The father of the boy is the one who was screaming, and then the father of the boy who was crying got involved.

I agree with confused, the league can't be at fault if a spectator becomes unruly, except if the league had prior knowledge of this individuals unacceptable behavior. WILL Code Of Ethics actually addresses this.

West Islip Little League
2011
CODE OF ETHICS

10. Managers/coaches are responsible for the actions of their
spectators. Unruliness will cause removal of the spectator(s)
AND the Manager/coach.

So who was the manager/coach?

Nice quote, but we all know when push comes to shove, these 'rules' will only apply to some and not all, that's how they do it in this town's little league.
Here's a question: Who's responsible for the bad examples, sore winning, sore losing and crybaby behavior of some of the coaches of WILL?

Where do you come up with Chris Hillier, you are confused!!!!!!! I'm talking about John Woodburn!!!!! Chris is a nice guy who does a lot for the kids in this town!!!! The board members are a JOKE!!! This isn't the 1st time this father has been a problem.... You have a few coaches that have been suspended multiple times over the years. These are the guys the board likes. WHY, BECAUSE THEY LOVE THE DRAMA!!!!

Confused and Mayhem..... Trust me the league is at fault. If you think otherwise you are blind to anything that goes on in west islip little league. If it's because your not involved and don't see it then you cant say " I also agree the league cant be at fault"..... You have a large handful of troublemakers that the league does nothing to. They are the untouchables. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Try spending a day down at the fields watching some of these morons act. Some of these guys are the ones who get ripped apart at home by their wives then come to the field and act like animals!!!! Like I said, I've been watching this for way to long!!!!

the coaches and parents involved should be thrown out...if you can not control yourself in front of kids then you better stay away from my kids..the problem is the worst offenders of losing control in front of kids are the league board members...they should all be thrown out..the league belongs to the town residents...they need to take it back from these thugs and start fresh..

It is the leagues fault because the coach is responsible for the parents....and who was the coach in charge... no other than VINNY BUONAURO..IF THAT DOESNT WARRANT A SUSPENSION I DONT KNOW WHAT DOES....

I don't know what game you were watching so let's get this straight. Yes there was a parent out of control but there were THREE coaches screaming and yelling and out of control WAY BEFORE the parent became out of control. If you were there, Vinny did everything to calm both the parent and the coaches on the other team. It is the umpire who should have had control of the game and didn't. It should have been stopped when the coaches came out screaming at the umpire about a call.........welcome to baseball people, ump's are not perfect! This is little league not the MLB. The parent and the coaches should have been addressed, don't know if they were by the league! You cannot hold a manager responsible for a parent that will not listen when told to stop, that's when the umpire should have stepped in, asked the parent to leave or call the game.

Yes it is, HE controls the game, do you ever watch baseball??? Vinny has never touched a penny of the league's money. No one does except the treasurer dumba***. I'm sure their are many managers and coaches that know W.I.L.L. does not hand money over to them for ANY reason, NOR do they have access to it! By the way how do you "BUY" your way into a league and then supposedly steal from it??? which one is it?? your a joke, you must be a whiny little coach who didn't get a team

Tell me how far off I am about this!!!!! If I remember correctly there was a play at first base that the kid was out by 5 feet. Our coaches yelled to the umpire " are you kidding me how do you miss that" The yelling was for all of 15 seconds when at that point one or our coaches called time out, went over calmly and spoke to the umpire. When the umpire said he didn't see the play and that he made a mistake, it was over!!! All of 15 seconds. Your coach VINNY began arguing with our coaches about arguing with the umpire. How about he mind his own business. If our coaches went to far let the umpire take care of it. NEWS FLASH, these umpires are grown men GETTING PAID. There is no problem arguing a call with an umpire. Learn the rules!!!! As far as the out of control parent YOU DON'T EVER ATTACK A CHILD!!!!! How do you condone this and try to make excuses or even compare this to arguing with umpires.......... OH AND BY THE WAY, AFTER THE CHILD WAS HIT HE THROWS HIS BAT DOWN, FLAIRS HIS ARMS IN THE AIR AND WALKS TOWARDS THE MOUND. I GUESS THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE!!! I think I'm pretty much right on the money, right.

First of all learn to read..... Never did I condone what the parent did, I just stated the facts of the game first. Vinny was just trying to tell the coaches to relax, because the KIDS were getting upset with the yelling on BOTH teams or didn't you notice??Mind his own business???? your playing his team. Yes a coach is allowed to argue a call, not THREE coaches coming out of the dug out screaming, we were all there and saw it! As for being out by 5 feet , try again , he might of been out but not by much, he's one of the fastest kids in the league and we clearly know he was safe at the second call.... but I guess the mentality here is two wrongs make a right!! Or the umpire was afraid of getting screamed at again! The parent WAS out of control and told to stop, but A manager cannot physically remove anyone from a game, that's why the umpire should have asked him to leave and if he wouldn't listen, call the game until he does. BUT the manager who challenged him into a fist fight in front of all the kids..... what is that?? They should know better even if the parent didn't. I've seen manager's and coaches get suspended for less and have seen on numerous occasions an umpire threaten to call a game if people didn't maintain control. Vinny's team did not witness there coaches out of control, can you say the same????
