No one ever died from smoking weed. Plenty die every year from legal alcohol and cigarettes. This stuff is a waste of time. How about we focus our resources on deporting illegals instead?

Sucks that there arent pedophiles, rapists, murderers to go find, they gotta drought long island. Good job SCPD! must be worth your $100,000 salary. and to the first comment, honestly, this guy was running a multi-million dollar business, there gonna go after the little guy? lets be real...even if he ratted, it wouldnt take a year off of his sentence.

When are the lawmakers going to grow up??? Pot has been legal for over 30 years in Amsterdam and should have been legal here by now. ARE WE GOING TO LET A TINY LITTLE COUNTRY LIKE HOLLAND SHOW US UP IN THE AREA OF PROGRESSIVE THINKING???

Great job by the cops and feds enforcing the LAW, or have you forgotten that pot is still AGAINST the law? Just because you feel it's all right to smoke pot doesn't make it LEGAL to do so, and the cops were doing their jobs. Since when do YOU get to pick and choose which laws YOU will obey?

If you don't like the law, change it, but until then, the cops have to enforce it, whether you like it or not. So quit griping and find another LEGAL way to celebrate the Labor Day weekend!

Of course, "progressive" Amsterdam is also the home of hookers who advertise their goodies in shop windows, as well as a flourishing kiddie porn industry. It also has a growing problem with heroin and other hard drugs, because of the perceived leniency on the part of the police and government, which attracts users and dealers from all over Europe and the world. In addition, there is a growing problem in the Netherlands with Muslim fundamentalists. That doesn't sound like a very good example to follow, unless you only care about getting high!

"The goal now is ... to take down their financial operation. Basically, to take away all their toys."
"It's not about the drugs, it's a financial crime," Foy said. "The drugs was the means to do the criminal element."
That right there says a lot.
Notice how the article does not say how much pot was seized.

And the US has a growing problem with meth, hookers that walk the streets in every single city we've got, and Muslim fundies want to blow us all up. Pot meet kettle.

We can't even control poppy production in Afghanistan and we can run that place like a military dictatorship. In fact, I wonder who profits off of heroin ... the CIA perhaps?
