The punishment? Death! He is up for 5-15 years? When are the courts going to get serious about this stuff? I almost don't blame the drivers who do this stuff, i blame the prosecutors and judges who allow these people back on the streets. enough is enough!

Forget about that, why as he released after showing a fake license. What a system we have. He was deported and there is no record of him being allowed back into this country so why was he released on bail ?????

Steve you are absolutly right.....we are too soft on people who have DWI's. We need to get harder and make it tough on them. It is crazy that they get off so easy. He killed two people and does not even belong in this country. And the worst is when they have been arrested for DWI's before like the women in Riverhead who killed the priest. And for him to plead not guilty is horrible. His lawyer probally figures take it to court and then they can get him less time. These lawyers should be locked up.

get the new prison ready...let the overcrowding begin!

it doesnt matter what kind of law there is...if you have establishments that serve alcohol and vehicles are needed to get there and home, there will be people driving drunk!

get it?

They need to have a sliding scale the drunker you are the longer you get. Like with the limo case, an alcohol content that high should qualify for murder. This case is an illustration with all that is wrong with immigration in this country. Frankly his family and anyone who helped him get back in the country, get is (probably) phony ID's and anyone who emplyed him should go to jail or get deported (again). These people who think anyone can cross the border and just violate our laws what a farce. And the Catholic church is at the lead. Ironic day with that story about the teacher who was accused of being a with and this-maybe organized religion is the root of all evil?

Here we go AGAIN! This article has angered me so much! The ink is not even dry on the paperwork for the limo driver and the little girl killed by the drunk going the wrong way on the parkway, now here we are again discussing yet another drunk who killed 2 more people!

When is this all going to stop? When are we as a country going to wake up and quit calling these accidents? When you knowingly get behind the wheel of a 3 or 4 thousand pound weapon drunk, and you kill someone, that is murder. The laws need to be changed so that people who chose to break the law do not get off with a small slap on the hand or a 5 to 15 year sentence. It is wrong. The loved ones of these people are have been killed have to go the rest of their lives without their loved ones because of some jerk breaking the law. Until we send a strong message the laws will never change and this behavior will continue! 5 to 15 years is not going to change anything!

Steve you cant blame the judges. They are following the laws that we as a nation put in force. Until we change those laws and contact our lawmakers, congressmen, senators, governors etc. this type of stuff will never change. Personally, I would like to see the law changed throughout the United States. The same law in every state. You drink, You drive, You kill someone, YOU ARE DONE! They could use that as the slogan. I am tired of reading about all these innocent people who were killed by these individuals who knew better than to get in the car after drinking and driving. You break the law - there are no excuses when you kill or injure someone else.

the difference was two fold:
-Rice is a tool of the special interest group MADD unlike Spota(don't believe me? see what happens on appeal - will bet you a meal that the verdict is overturned as not being murder per the law as is).

-Flynn's family is politically connected. Understand I think it was horrible & wrong what happened. I just think its more messed up that the system let it get itself played and you do more time for a dwi injury that you do for a deliberate assault(with the same injury).

oh incidentally, drunk driving is wrong & stupid & illegal if anyone thinks i'm for it. I just don't kid myself about why certain calls have been made in matters.
