the street this was on has maybe 8 house on one side in between 2 roads with light on either corner.. This was not a long strech of road, and a redidental area what has no side walks. When you are familar with an street, whether it has little kids playing in the strret or a house with a basketball hoop you know to slow down. This street you go 20 miles an hour, no one darted into the street, it was a bunch of kids just standing there. regarless of the dark cloths , which this is winder, not a ski restort, that to me means the driver was not paying attention. If a driver can not see on a light street, a person as they say a few feet in the road who is not moving, they are not lookingat the road for that minute or 2.. thats is all it takes for a accident. Stp blaming the poor kid..

Every Memory for every vacation, trip, birthday party or just cutting school for the day had him in it. I miss and love him along with many others. His and my plans willbe carried out in him honer. You are an ASS! How do you sleep at night?? ALONE no doubt! You are a pathetic fool. Get a life. This boy you're putting your two cents in about, could have taught you a thing or two about humanity.

God Bless You Pete, RIP.

Nope, never did, but as a mother of 4 I did something that I consider more important, I raised 4 children to be compassionate, caring , decent human beings, who unlike you would never of make such an ignorant comment about a tragedy involving a wonderful , caring warm hearted 18 year old kid... Too bad YOUR mother didn't teach you that. LOWLIFE

Nice comeback wise guy..You talk real big to a kid on the computer (my kid) you got guts in the real world to talk like that to adults. My guess is your just some punk raising kids just like you. Lots of cars and accidents out there, good luck to you and your family memebers in the future. And GOD forbid anything like this happens to you, I hope you get a jerk just like you making these comments.. happy new year lowlife

I wonder, did you also raise your children to be compassionate, caring, decent human beings, who wish harm and death on others, as you did?

And, just how many names do you plan on using on this one thread? We like to keep score of who's who.

Self-righeous, nope, just a person who feels bad about a great kids life being over at 18..What the mater, you can talk Sh*t about the death of a good kid, but i make a comment about your mother's lack of educating you on the lesson of having compassion for others.. and you get all emotional .. poor baby.....Have compassion for people's tragedy's in life you fool, the next one might happen to you and your love ones..

Streets are for cars.

Oh, and railroad tracks are for trains, although it has been awhile since a teenager wandered onto one and got 'tragically' killed.

Pedestrians bend worse than cars, and so, when they are in a street [where cars go, remember?] they should watch out for the cars. ON a sidewalk it would be the other way round.

You picked up on my lousy spelling, maybe you didn't pick up that the other named I was using was under my kids name by mistake...I taught my kids compassion, but i also taught them there are real jerks in this world and don't take crap from them...You wrote it would of been ok if the kid was 10 or 11, that makes a difference to you?...You post rude comments about a story blaming a kid for wearing dark clothes in the winter.. Don't you think his family and love ones would be reading these comments, or you just don"t care...Again, my point is, if it happened to you or your love ones i know you would have a different opinion of this tragedy, and since you posted your opinion, i posted mine about i hope you would get the same response if it was your family,as the one you wrote here..

This street has no sidewalks, one lane each way , 9 houses in between traffic lights on either side, residential area, where cars park on the road...not a long stretch of road. And as any driver does , we do take our eyes off the road, especially in a familiar area, and that's all it takes is half a second.. That's why there called accidents ..unfortunately this one took the life a wonderful young caring 18 year old...

The **** who got splattered by the van couldn’t keep himself safe, much less teach anyone else anything. Could he have taught suicide lessons?

You have a kid that talks on a computer? I never knew people had goats that could talk. If you don’t like what your “kid” talks about on the computer, perhaps you might have it munch on the lawn.
I agree that there are many cars and collisions out there. I pray that all the morons are killed off. I for one would never go play in the street wearing dark clothes. Please play in the street tonight wearing a black outfit.
What is a “memebers”?
Another good comback, your just so witty...lol... If you really are from Bethpage that hero's name on your local post office would be ashamed of the comments you make about a kid who lost his life at 18. All different people in this world , some are hero's and some are just punk's...stay in your little narrow minded bubble with like minded people like yourself, you would never survive in the real world...again, same to you and your love ones..

Yeah, I’ll just stay in my world where people have the common sense not to play in traffic and become hood ornaments. By the way, the fool gave his life away to the front end of a car.
SPLAT!
Can you read? the article said the kid was standing standing with a bunch of other kids, not "playing" in the road...No kids in bethpage do that, i've seen them darting across broadway, walking in the street down their blocks to each other's house.. Next time your driving don't you move out of the way,it would be the kids fault if you hit him, right...5- 10 years in jail if you told a judge tha the kid was in the street, it waan't my fault..lol....I am not even going to reply to you anymore, your just too stupid and heartless..

Accidents happen. Unfortunately, Pete did not survive this. I feel sorry for all of the negative posters out there, that your life is so empty that you have to result to all the vicious comments to make yourselves seem (self) important. I won't answer you here because in all of the years that I knew Pete, I never heard him raise his voice or say a bad thing about anyone. I will follow his example. Sometimes the elders can truly learn from the 'youngsters'.
I too knew Pete to be just as you have described. I find it incomprehensible that anyone would make light of the death of a young person, but such is the world we live in.

I am truly heartbroken that Pete is no longer with us and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as they struggle to deal with this tragedy.

Pete, may you finally find peace.

Are you people kidding me? This is an 18 year old kid that was killed and you're tearing him apart because of your bullsh1t judgments when half of you don't even know the kid, and don't know a thing about him. I went to high school with him, and saw him a couple of weeks ago. Let him rest in peace, who are you to say that it's his fault? I can't believe these are adults writing these comments. Grow the fu.ck up, seriously you people are low lives and don't deserve to breathe. For all of Peter's friends and family, I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Rest in peace Peter, it's gonna be weird not seeing you skating or walking around town.

"who are you to say that it's his fault?"

Grownups who drive cars in the road where they belong.
