I lived in Lindenhurst for 29 years. Still have family there. What is so bad about it?....Really. Married my husband also from Lindenhurst. Middle income families just trying to make it these days. Due to the economy, I see the village is not what it was 15 years ago, but I see the same in other towns on Long Island. I am not embarrassed to say I am formerly from Lindenhurst. We are not talking about a comparison to Copiague or Wyndanch are we?

I agree with this. Everyone who says its a bad place to live has probably never come here. During hurricane sandy everybody was nice and helped out and I can say I now know most of my neighbors. I've also lived here all my life and I love it here. A lot of ppl online think tht everyone is a drug dealer, I bet that in other people's towns there is some in their town too they just don't know about it. going to school in lindenhurst gave me some of the best memories you can imagine. What I don't get is why people are always trashing us cause I bet you if you told me your town I can trash that too. Yeah some ppl think tht lindy is not as good as it used to be but so is America. If you want to trash lindy so be it but first think of the good things about it. In my opinion if you insult my town you're insulting me

No, I have a classmate who works for LIPA as a VP of Engineering. Another is a VP for Sun Trust in Atlanta. One is a famous rapper (Rakim). Another is a Head Coach for the University of Penn and a graduate of that same school. Another is a school principal in Medford. And, that is just off the top of my head from my class of 1986. So, you stfu. Trailer trash!

I also have disdain for that behavior and will not attempt to explain it. People like myself, did not participate in that sort of behavior. I left for college and never came back. Some of my friends have. Wyandanch is no Utopia, but it's not a Medford, Lindenhurst, or fill in the blank trailer-park community.

I do not deny that the element you descibe exists. But, it is not the overwhelming majority. The average Wyandanch resident gets up and goes to work. Their children go on to college, and lead normal lives. I know this, I am one of them. In spite of having a poor start in life, I am now a 6-figure income earner at Bank of America. Beware of shore drive illegal apartment in Lindenhurst!
