This is not a dance school. If you want to have your child learn to dance, go elsewhere. Miss Angela seems very nice and all, but in reality, it is all about money to her. The more classes you sign up your child for, the more she will like you. All the "dance" moves are the same. In fact, I have even overheard audience members laughing at how silly it is because it is the same numbers year after year and the moves are not new and the children don't learn anything. It is like babysitting for an hour and then a very long recital at the end of the year with flailing arms and marching feet, but no grace and no talent.

I have been a student at this school for many years and I am so happy with this school. The teachers are so professional and their choreography is the best. I started out as a student who never danced before and I was treated like part of a family. The teacher spent so much time with me so I could feel more confident dancing with girls who have danced before.

For anyone to say that Miss Angela is all about money is absurd. Miss Angela goes out of her way to find reasonably priced costumes and recycles costumes when classes do more than one dance. It's downright insulting to say that Miss Angela will like you more depending on how many classes you take. I'm not sure what problem the mom from Massapequa (wrote the review above) had with the school. She just may be the only person to ever say a negative word about Miss Angela. Like the school or not, Miss Angela is one of the nicest and most considerate people I have ever met. Regarding the steps that are taught, the dance moves are made more detailed with each year as little girls grow and learn how to dance. It's just like in a karate school where each color belt learns a certain form as they develop their skill.

I have been dancing at Lynette's for 15 years now, and since I was 4 years old Miss Angela has been one of the most influential people in my life. She is the kindest most giving person I have ever met and shame on whoever thinks she does this for the money. She does this for her love of dance and teaching aspiring dancers that they can become anyone they want to be. As for the recitals, we do sometimes recycle costumes but thats only to SAVE money and the dances and steps change every year. I have progressed so much over the years thanks to Miss Angela that I got a solo last year and it was an opportunity of a lifetime! For anyone who is looking for a great dance school, take it from someone who spends 3 days a week there for 15 years. Lynette's is by far the best choice, we're like a family always welcoming new members. Nobody is judged and with practice your son or daughter will become a beautiful dancer.

Statistics show 3% of the students in these schools will work at strip clubs.

I have been a dancer for ten years and wanted to change dance schools (because I moved). Been looking into this place for awhile because its right near my house. I'm 21 years old. Is this school a good choice for me? Thank you

Yes, Tracy, this is a great school for you. There are different young adult classes, and the teachers are wonderful. It's like a family there, and you will very quickly become a part of it. Any negative comments truly have to be ignored. As stated above, Angela is very sweet, caring, talented, and most of all.....FAIR. You won't need to be there long to understand that. I've used about 4 of my costumes more than once in the last 10 years to save the money of a new costume....Angela is the best!

I have been a student at Lynette's School of Dance for 20+ years. I started when I was 7. I stopped dancing for a few years when I was a teenager. In my early 20's, I realized how much I missed dancing. When I called information to look up Lynette's telephone number, I was excited to hear that it was still in business. Little did I know when I showed up for class that would be reunited with dancers from my early childhood. Even more to my surprise, I made new friends that I now call my family. Miss Angela was the sweetest, most caring, non-judgmental person I had ever met. She welcomed me into her classes and I immediately felt like I was "home" again. I took as many classes as I could and even got a part time job as an instructor there. I still teach here to this day! I learned a lot about myself and my true passion for dance. This is my happy place. There is no competitiveness, just pure fun in a family-like setting. I get the chills thinking about my daughter starting dance here next year when she turns 2 years old.
Angela continues to be the kindest, most generous person I've ever met. She truly cares about her clients, staff & friends. My only complaint about Angela, she is too nice!!!!:) I'm forever grateful that I made that phone call and went back to Lynette's. It's part of who I am. And I could never be without my dance teachers, friends and students! Rock on! Can't wait for another amazing year & dance production in June!

I went to a summer class here and I loved it! Now I'm starting classes tomorrow for the fall. Just like everyone said Angela is very nice and caring. She's the most sweetest person I ever met. I have a disability but that didn't stop me from dancing again and she is very accommodating to me and my needs.

Always the same dance moves from year to year.Originality is a no no.

The recitals are not only a showcase for the dancers but also their low brow yahoo relatives & friends who shout all during the sho..

If you wait during class be prepared to hear all about how great Catholic schools are , trips to the Wisconsin Dells, and how the height of life is going to Disneyworld .

Miss Angela is the nicest person on this earth and how dare you say that all she cares about is money. I have been dancing at this school since I was 7. The dances are new and I learn new moves every week!

You're in the wrong forum...this is about Lynette's Dance in Farmingdale, Long Island...you're obviously talking about the Lynette's in Chicago.

Reading is fundamental!

Hello"Gina",
It would seem that you are auditioning for a part on "Dance Moms", but Lynettes is not that kind of place. Could that be the reason you didn't fit in? The things you say just don't ring true, and I base my opinion on the fact that my daughter has been a student at Lynettes for 8 years.
Your "review" sounds more like a malicious attempt to malign Lynette's and Miss Angela. From my experience my daughter loves the environment, is excited about the dances, loves Miss Angela and the other teachers and her skill level has steadily increased year to year.
They seem to have a steady following of repeat dancers, some attending for many years, that doesn't happen in a school like the one you described.
