I just pulled one of these little bastards out of my skin with a tweezer. Let me tell you it HURT LIKE HELL when that thing bit me. It was like an electric shock and it didn't stop hurting, the way a wasp sting stops hurting after the initial sting. It didn't stop hurting until I managed to get it all the way out. I was hopping around on one leg trying to find tweezers, thats how bad it hurt. I never felt a tick bite like that before in my life -- and I grew up on LI and used to pull ticks off me routinely as a kid when I came out of the woods.(Believe it or not, we actually played in these things called "woods" when I was a kid. It was a large stand of trees unbroken by suburban development and usually surrounded by fields)
Anyway, the tick was reddish brown and had that white dot on it. I looked it up online and found it was a Lone Star tick. Man, it hurt like hell. You're not kidding the thing is aggressive. It has jaws of steel. I am in the Bridgehampton area.
