i wanna set a few things straight, Nicole didn't know his past, he lied to her like many older guys do with younger girls.
A seatbelt would NOT have saved her, the way the crash happened she would have been killed with or without it, it was a head injury that killed her, not lack of a seatbelt.
I don't know why she was out at that hour but i can tell you where her mother was: driving all over town trying to find her.
i blame the driver, he lied to her about his past to get her to trust him.
Her only mistake was being such a trusting person.
RIP Nicole.
A seatbelt would of kept her secure. Not moving all around the car. moving all around the car made her hit her head so a seat belt would of saved her. She should have had a seat belt on. She probaby would have still be living. Jays didnt lie about his past everyone knows it. Hes not a bad guy. and for the record nicole didnt make the " best " choices in her life. Its unfortunate that she died but its not only his fault. she told him to drive bc she was to drunk to drive, she coulda called her mother.

Jason (the boy driving) is my older brother. Hes not a horrible person who takes advantage of young girls, Hes a nice guy a kid really who made a mistake that he now has to live with this mistake for the rest of his life. And trust me he feels terrible about it. So if I can ask one favor to all you people its that you please stop saying this stuff about my big brother.

jay did not try and flee the scene. Both of them had wrong doing. He should not have been driving that night nor should she have. Jay has no recolection of that night.
One of the things that I keep thinking about on this situation is...why didn't Nicole realize how drunk he was before she got into the car with him? Also, it has been implied that she was drinking as well. Isn't she underage? It's so easy to point fingers, and yes the loss of life sucks...But...both involved could have prevented this. No one but Jason and Nicole know why he chose to drive. Unfortunately none of you will probably even care to hear his story.
So many people drink and drive. I can't imagine that any of those who commented on here would ever be in that situation.
My brother died at the age of 10 due to a playground accident that involved one of his friends that pushed or pulled him as he stood atop the jungle gym bars. He fell, broke his neck in 2 places, and drowned in his own blood. He should not have been on top of the bars, the other little boy shouldn't have been up there either, where was the teacher, where were his parents...I feel his loss 28 years later...and there's still no one to blame. Who should I be mad at?

you act like because he has a past he meant to kill her. she was drunk and she drove from new haven to west haven. got more drunk there. the driver was wrong for driving . he didnt have a licence. everyone understand that. but because of his criminal past u blame him? thats wrong. he crashed. he had a seatbelt on. she didnt. its so sad that she is dead. but blaming someone isnt going to stop your pain.
Thank you for sticking up for my big brother

I have much condolences for the family of Nicole . Its a shame to see what teen driving has come too . None really knows what or how this tragic event happened . As for the boy who was with her , he has to live life every sinlge day knowing that he was the last one to share a moment with Nicole before she died. Although he may or may not have been the cause of the crash he still has to go through life knowing that Nicole died in his car, with him,he was driving. I never had a family member die in a car crash but I know that the family is extremly hurt and saddened by this. I feel bad for the Jason ( the boy that was with Nicole on the night of her death ), however he got a second chance at life. This just goes to show that in the blink of an eye life can pass you by, so take everyday one step at time and live life to the fullest .
REST IN PEACE NICOLE STEPEN .
YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED, EVEN THOUGH I DIDNT KNOW YOU I WISH I WOULD HAVE.$
She lost her life by her own decisions she got in that car knowing the situation. Jason feels bad about it but he shouldn't she made the choice of getting in the car.

What an awful thing to write about in a public forum. The families of this young man and woman, must be horrified. This whole thing is absurd ! Does no one respect life anymore?!!. I am appalled that people are actually fighting about this in a public place. Shame on all involved! The mentality of course , of two year olds, if that. Disgusting.
