--It was unclear Saturday evening who was driving the teenager's car, a 2008 Mazda registered to Kenneth Krakowski.--

Unclear to whom, the reporter because they didn't ask ??

It's obvious that he was, because he was squished at impact on the passenger side. Then they had to extricate her, the driver, because the car was T-boned turning left into the path of the cop.

I feel sorry for the families, how tragic.

The cop must have been traveling really fast if he couldn't avoid hitting those kids.

At that hour there is not much traffic at all, what was he doing that he couldn't have avoided getting into an accident with one of the very few cars on the road? Just askin'...

What were the teens doing that they swerved into his path? Just a thought before we start blaming anyone...

A very sad state of affairs. So Utopia is the reason for the crash in the end. Those that were in that altercation should feel guilt of being part of the deaths of these teens. Part I said. As their abilities to drive and what they were doing were the actual cause of death. I hope the officer does not suffer but there are always long term ramificaitons UGH! Not good.

The article said the cop couldn't avoid hitting them which probably means they turned in his path and did not have enough distance to clear and grant right of way to the oncoming cop car. Tragedy on both sides here.

19 year olds out at 3am. The car registered to daddy. Why didn't daddy put a curfew on hes daughter. Had she been home at midnight the latest she would still be alive. Why did they choose to turn into the path of the cruiser? Were they playing chicken and thinking they would get away without a scratch? What is their blood alcohol level? Coun't figure out who was driving? They had to extricate the girl, should know which side they pulled her out of. come on people report the news not leave it up to us to try to figure out.

I wonder if there are other witnesses besides the cop. Notice the cops are NEVER at fault in these accidents?

Hopefully, the investigation will reveal the truth (not that we'll ever see a follow-up in the NT). In the meantime, condolences to friends and family.

Who said cops are "Never" at fault? There have been many accidents where cops were found at fault, if you are trying to insinuate a coverup, good luck. What makes you think this is the cops fault at all? Maybe the kids turned in front of him and he couldn't avoid the collison, happens all the time genius.

maybe they misjudged the speed of the police car, and thought they had plenty of time to turn.....why do all the news stations, say they turned in front of the police car... oh that's right the cop told them...

The cop didn't tell them anything, the investigation revealed it and thats the info someone else relayed to them. If they misjudged the cop cars speed, that makes them still at fault. If they don't have enough room to turn, than they shouldn't have.

its a left turn signal onto that road, the speed limit on that road is 45mph.its 6 lanes wide at that intersection.the girl was in a ditch out of the car ,the stste police were callled by Orange pd ,probably because they did not want this tainted by local cops, and for the damage that was done by the accident that officer had to be going well over 70mph .never mind what they were doing out at theat hour , why were cops from three towns away speeding through another town.

The cop didn't tell them anything? How do you think the police conduct an investigation? Go to the library? Google it? Interview any local possums or squirrels that might have seen what happened? I'm sure the cop is the FIRST person they talked to.

What is wrong with you? Have you never been out at 3 am? There is no law against being out after dark. This is not a police state in which we live. I guess it is easier for you to blame a couple of 19 years old citizens then to take a good look at the real culprit here. Shouldn't we be asking why the officer was speeding down the street so fast the he was unable to even make an attempt to stop his cruiser. The time of the incident has no bearing on the facts. McDonald's is open 24 hours. Maybe they were hungry. Is it ok for people to get hungry late at night in your little world or is that wrong too. You should be ashamed of yourself blaming the victims of this homicide.

I put blame where blame belongs. If you're hungry raid the fridge. They were going faster than the limit attempted to beat the car to the turn but misjudge it. Inexperienced juvenile deliquents. And yes I've been out at 3am,, running with an ambulance and fire department, or working late. Never for joy riding or because " I was hungry". lame excuses. IT wasn't the cops fault it was theirs.

I AM SURE YOU WILL SOON FIND OUT WHAT I ALREADY KNOW. IT WAS THE COPS FAULT. I BET YOU CAN'T RAID THE FRIDGE TO EAT YOUR WORDS. BUT YOU'LL SEE. I ALREADY KNOW THE RESULTS BUT YOU'LL HEAR THEM IN A DAY OR TWO. Additionally, how dare you refer to the murder as juvenile delinquents? You must be a very bitter person. You can count your friends on one hand, can't you?
