Coming from a person that has to deal w this spousal abuse. It doesn't stop and one day he will do it in front of the kids. There is a place in Valdosta called the Haven. Look it up on the internet. They are a non profit organization that will supply you a home and basic needs to help you get on your feet. Along w counseling and help w obtaining a job. Also no one will be able to find you bc the location of this place is anonymous due to the need for safety of the women. You are scared bc you don't know how or what you'll do but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. When you call, they will supply a person to pick you and the children up from the home at a designated time that you pick. You can't hide this from ANYONE forever

Call the sheriffs dept. and tell them you are a victim of spousal abuse and you want out. Ask them to take you and your kids to the Magnolia House in Waycross. They will! Once you get there you will have a place to live and food, clothes, and anything else you need and they will start a process to get you a place to live, foodstamps, and they will help you get a job. You will only be in the Magnolia house a short time before they find you a place to live whether you decide to stay in Douglas or go elsewhere. They will also help you file for divorce at no cost to you and someone will be with youn every step of the way. I have been in your shoes and I stayed way too long. Your husband is probably telling you that he will find you if you leave and I know how scary that can be. Be strong and make up your mind to leave....this organization will make it so much easier for you and they also offer counseling for you and your babies. I left 7 years ago and completely started my life over. I have never regreted it. Yes, my husband tried to find me and I was scared for awhile, but they had everything in place to help me and my kids and because of that I got a house, car and a job and supported me and my kids. I will be praying for you and your kids. You can do this but you have to make the first step. Regardless of the fact you feel the law can't help you, they can and they will. God bless you!
