The union has come to town. I saw two Union reps at the gas station this morning. One of them told me Douglas and Waycross Walmarts are shutting down on Black Friday. Has anybody heard this? I thought Walmart worked this out with its striking employees?

You know, it must be bad to have to work on Thanksgiving and the long hours during black friday, but, I know several people who would be willing to it because they have been searching for a job for months/year. You know what you are gettig yourself into, when you work at a place like Wal-mart. It is opened 24 hours a day and they are known for thier black friday sales. If it were me, I would welcome the overtime, MORE MONEY.
I don't think I would do a walk out, there are alot of people out there that will be willin to take your place.

If I owned or managed a store and if any employee did not have the balls to talk to me in private and walked out on me on the busiest day of the year. That employee would be fired on the spot. Let him/her draw their check from the ones that talked them into walking out. I do not apprve of this crap and it just hurts everyone except the Mafia, who rules the unions and take billions in dues and really do nothing. Case closed. Ask the fired MLB umpires that wish they were back in the Major League. One monkey don't run the show. Union bosses should hae to shut down and get a real job.

According to the news and what I've read about his, most employees work partime. Therefore they do not qualify for any benefits ie;healthcare, vacation, overtim e etc. The reason they are attempting to strike is most are on fs and mcd due to the low income.
The strike is not about the black friday sale,it is the time that will hurt wm the most.
To all[including me] who fuss about the amount of fs/freebie recepients around, we should be glad these people are attempting to help themselves rather than wm.How can a company KEEP it's employees on the poverty level for profits. Oh I forgot this is the same company that takes out life insurance on their employees payable to wm.

as for the union laws, that's how wm has gained the upper hand on the employees and this country.Maybe you all should check out the documentary on wm,they are attempting to treat american workers the way they treat workers in other countries.
The impact of wm on local business is negative to the point of "family" owned businesses shutting down. Several communities have refused to allow wm in. You nor I will ever know how much of your property tax money has been used to keep wm here. The county prepped the site free and everytime their tax exempt status runs out, they threaten to leave. really check into the unsavory business pracices of wm.

Just to be fair,we the people also payed for other businesses like coats and clark, pcc, the water plant all these were site prepped at the expense of local monies.

it will take more than just the workers to walk out on walmart before sams greedy kids get the message - america must walk out on walmart! if you really are tired of their horrible customer service, their horrible employees ( who by the way only feel the way they do because they are abused and taken advantage of by walmart) STOP SHOPPING THERE !! STOP COMPLAINING ! STOP SHOPPING THERE !

Its funny, Walmart has literally destroyed entire local economies. But talk about the Union in South Georgia? Jesus Christ, you'd have thought somebody had said Muslims are destroying Bibles at the Court House.

Georgia, like several Southern States are Right To Work States. Thats a nice way of saying, if you have a problem at your Job, tuff shit. "So you want a $.25 raise? Theres a line of people a mile long who want your job. Get back to work or get the hell out. Part time hours at minimum wage pay is all you are going to get."

Stay in school and prepare for a career if you don't want a part-time job. Can't raise a family on Wal-Mart pay? Don't act shocked. No one working at Wal-Mart should think of that as a full-time job with career potential.
Unions have no place in modern society, as we aren't forcing kids to work in coal mines anymore. Everyone wants the benefits of a career without the effort of working to earn one.

The employees NEVER receive over-time or holiday pay. Hours are cut in same pay period.

Walmart is the most un-american thing in america today. It has single handedly wiped out small town usa. I try to never go there. I hate walmart with a passion.
