Our basketball program needs a shot of new direction. Take a look at the Coaches. All of them from the top to the bottom leave a lot to be desired. It is tiame for a change. The people should be concerned because their children are being cheated. Not aonly basketball. l How about football, science teacher , literature teacher. How about our wonderfsul band. Go to other communities and see what you are not getting. The teacher are at the top of the salary scale. What kind of titurn are we getting for our money.

My son has played for Kevin Toney twice, once as a freshman on the team that lost 3 games all year.(1991)and on the winningest basketball team in F.C.H.S. History the team of 1995.(29-3) Kevin Toney is the best thing to happen to F.C.H.S. basketball in many years. I have the same chairseats that where purchased by my grandparents when this gym was built. I have seen many coaches come and go and he is definelty the best. My son's group of players would have jumped through a hoop for Kevin Toney. They respected and still respect him as a mentor and a coach. I would have given my right arm to have Kevin Toney in the drivers seat instead of Bobby Brown their senior year.
These people that are bad mouthing Kevin Toney probably have kids that always get their way, are lazy and don't want to give up their summers going to camps, they would rather be playing video games, on computers with thier girl friends, or just hanging out instead of giving up thier time to be good!!!
My son's team played 90 games the summer before their senior year. Everything was put on hold. Basketball came before everything. These kids nowdays, don't want to invest that much into bball.
Thier parents take up for them way to much and let them get by with too much.
So don't blame Kevin Toney cause your softy child can't take a hard workout.
FCHS has had a lot of coaches who have had a lot more talent that KToney and still couldn't win games!!!!!

Amen.......There kids don't want to do anything and they want to blame someone else for it! That's WF for you. Tell your kids if they want to play they have to pay. It takes hard work and effort to get what you want in life, teach your kids that.

Tony is not as bad as some of the other coaches who play kids for "who" they are or becuse their parents are on the school board. If you really want to go get rid of coach Toney, cry to the board...you'll get your way! Good luck & I hope you can live with yourself destroying other people's lives!

Whats goin on with our prep bball program? Our coach has been here since 85 or 86' & what kind of record has he compiled during his tenure? Look at the wins this year & think if its time for a change!
If theres any doubt; just slip in the gym & watch 1 of those 'practice' sessions.... Elementary school coaches seem to have better results...Is it the kids or the coaches? What do yall think?
He has not been coaching varsity since85 my son played for BBrown in 95 then Richard Glodich was head coach so get your facts straight

I also attend the games and agree with you on alot of things I feel true Redbird fans support their players and coaches and encourage their children to have respect for adults and their coach I am a fan of Kevin Toney and feel he does a good job I feel Kevin and the boys do the best they can I am usually not a blogger but these people on here need to get a life instead of ripping kids for participating in sports there is always someone ready to bash a losing team dont they realize these boys show up for practice and work hard when their team mates bail these boys could also throw in the towel but choose to try to do their best some fans choose not to support a losing team but come on do they actually think the boys and coach choose to lose? But then again there is alot of classless people in w.f.

Many of you on here are ridiculous. Kevin Toney is one of the BEST coaches around. The past few years, talent has been terrible and as the old saying goes, "you can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh**." I know the kids are doing their best but sometimes the talent is just not there. This year WF has been in several games they shouldn't have and that is just good coaching.
I played for Coach Toney and I am a better person because of it. I learned what dedication, hard work, and putting your nose to the grindstone meant. I know how to react in times of adversity. He had a direct hand in the success of his players after high school. We had 9 seniors on the team that year who went on to be teachers, coaches, lawyers, horse trainers, LPGA caddies, preachers, etc. Every kid on the starting 5 earned a college bachelors degree...we didn't give up later in life because of the lessons we were taught between the lines from Kevin Toney.
I went on and was hired at WF's rival. Kevin Toney has been behind me, encouraging me every step of the way. I have been fortunate enough to coach talented kids to 2 state championships. And the morning before we won each I called Coach Toney and had long conversations with him...I still turn to him. He's not like many classless people in WF that judge me for where I work, call me names, etc. The funny thing about the people that don't like me now, is that they were the people in the stands cheering me on and patting me on the back 15 years ago. As far as i'm concerned, those people are ZEROS.
Coach Toney has always handled himself with class, works harder than any coach around, is always prepared, and does the best with what he has. He has had to deal with off the court issues too much with his best player and I applaude him for his continued discipline.
If I ever have a son, I would want him to play for Kevin Toney. There's not a better one out there.
If any of you cowards would like to discuss this further I would be happy to give you my contact information and name. I don't need to hide behind a name on a message board.

Game cancelled due to weather.

Dave Lee coached then Brown, then Lee again, then Glodich, then Toney. He has been a coach on every staff except maybe the Glodich staff since 1985 I think.

Those kids are the worst collective of basketball players this town has ever had. Sure they try hard, but somebody has to lose and looks like WF better get used to it. That's why school is so important kids because your chances of making the NBA are about the same as Rumraisin shuttin that pie hole. And quit blaming the coach during a losing season and filling your face with popcorn during a winning season. Don't like "abusive" coaching, go to the park and watch tee-ball league, live in that fantasy land you're created. Let me guess, let's not keep score either so we can all be winners. Then get in real world and watch as you get your face bashed in and wonder to yourself, "maybe that's why coach yelled at me and therefore i can deduce life might not be so easy so I'll need to buck up and keep fighting so the world doesn't eat me alive. Thanks Coach." Oh yeah, then you finally get someone (that hasn't spit on you walking by) to call that ambulance and while lying on your back, you see Cardinal EMS and WFFD duking it out about how much they care for you. You die.
Dont really agree with bashing the whole team and I can guarantee there has never been thoughts of NBA in years hats off to this good group of boys who work hard at practice have respect for their coach make good grades and excel in other sports and activities there is more to life than high school basketball most kids that run the streets do alot worse things than lose a b-ball game wish adults in this town could have a positive attitude and pass just a little bit on to their own kids

Wow coach Toney you and your cronies are really out trying to circle the wagons. If that was my son you called all of those names I would have been in a face to face meeting. I don't know why all of those parents have not been to the school or to the School Board. Maybe they have. I am sure Coach T is on this board acting like he is somebodyelse. Has there ever been a FCHS Varsity Team to go 0 - whatever? What is the worst record?
