Tooooooo many bums moving into West Frankfort because of allthe FREE stuff. I was at CVS and the person in front of me got 4 prescriptions filled and she told the pharmacist that Crosswalk would pay for all of it and they did. She moved from another state because she found out about all the handouts here. Drugs legal and illegal are ruining this town.......

The state and feds keep giving grants to crosswalk and people think all this stuff is free. But the tax payers are paying for it and I can't be the only one sick and tired of it or am I?

They were lined up outside crosswalk this morning (EARLY). Why not get up early and prepare for a day of trying to find employment??

We have to support them with our taxes and make sure they have enough food on their link card while we are busy going to work trying to buget the money we EARN to support our familys. We get drug tested to work and support them and their familys! Do they? No, we make everything free for them so they can buy their alcohal and drugs with their money!

I am glad that Crosswalk is available to help truely needy people. However, I am sickened that some employees appear to be hand picked & help themselves AND their friends to all the free supplies and take more handouts than they give!

I guess if your taxes didnt help the needy they would go towards all the wealthy folks. I would much rather my tax dollars help the needy than the wealthy, giving it back, is paying it forward! You WILL pay taxes on something, wouldnt you rather help this economy by improving the poverty level?? You take the "freebies" away from poverty and you will soon see they have nothing left to lose and then they will start stealing even more. Open your minds and help this world become a better place!

One of the problems with crosswalk is that it doesn't always help the needy. Families hide the income & it should be obvious they have the means to do for themselves. Sure it may be a fixed income, but other assests should be disclosed. If I owned a two story brick home that needed some type of work like insulation or a roof, I would have to use the equity in my home to get a loan to pay for it. But then again I am not friends with the ones who run the program. AND I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I had means to do for myself & I was taking services away from someone who truly was helpless. Maybe if the people who were helped had their names out there for eveeyone to see, the good ole buddy system wouldn't occur so much!

When I drive by there, almost every one of them has a coffee they purchased that morning, a cigarette, and a smart phone.

Think of how much money they would save by brewing their own coffee, and not smoking! Probably more than enough to pay their own bills... Hmmmm??

This person has no problem giving a hand, but hates giving handouts!

Amen... A lot of the folks camping out are obviously living well above their means because they are getting the necessities for free. I was raised if you can't afford it don't get it. But, I know a hand full of folks that really do need the help and they could get so much more if the system wasnt full of corruption. Does anyone know if there is an appropriate forum (not topix) to discuss these issues with the managing bodies?

I am sorry but I sincerally hope that none of you ar e ever face with the point in life were you have no food for your children, dont know if you will have a place to live. I understand that there are people you abuse this system, however there are people who truly need this. I was one of them, not knowing how I would be able to take care of my family, no job, and no home. and Yes I searched for a job for 2 years and took all the odd work I was given. However If it was not for crosswalk and other organizatins I would not of made it. They helped me with present for christmas, food to feed my children and lights and heat. Now I work and have a wonderful job. I have no problem with my taxing money going were it does, cause even if it truly only help one person out of 100 at least that person will be okay. And another thing you people that complain have some compassion, cause God forbid you ever wind up to where you need help as I did.

Crosswalk has a board of directors. You should speak with them about corruption, misuse, and abuse of funds and services. Call and ask for the names and contact information or the date of the next meeting. Its public information that cannot be withheld.

And YOU are exactly what this program is supposed to be for! Someone down on their luck, who uses it to get by until they can pull themselves back up and then get off of it. NOT the people who use it to supplement their lives because it is FREE

You have my admiration for being able to do the right thing!
