Vince Lombardi couldn't of done any better with this team, coaches can only do so much. But yes the A.D. does suck and has no idea what he's doing, but you can't put this on the coach. If you thought this year was bad just wait till next, its going to be UGLY

U idiots have no idea what u are talking about... probably don't have a job either. The A.D. is a class guy who always does what is right. The football coach is a great guy who works hard and the kids love. Try winning a game with the bunch that suited up this year....EDDIE u are a punk

The head coach is a pathetic joke! He simply doesn't have what it takes. Just ask Pinckneyville, Johnston City, and you can add West Frankfort to that deplorable list!

Sorry but Johnston city went undefeated when Beery was coach, so where are you getting your information from? Frankfort just sucks a**

He was in the right time at the right place in JC. The assistant coaches carried him through that year as he was simply not bright enough to stay. JC didn't offer him another round as head coach. So, if he was such a 'great' coach and had an undefeated year, then why wouldn't JC not keep him on as their head coach for at least a couple more years?

Because he just sucks, that's why.

Wow, you sure seem to know alot about the situation there RedBird Fan. And I'm sure all of your facts are correct. So, with that being said, what is your surfire way to fix the program?

Not only the salary, they changed the district school boundaries so his kids can go to WF schools. Would they do that for any of us?

MrRight, I can't say that there is ever a 'surefire' way to fix the program, but hiring Beery was a 'surefire' way to tank the program and it will stay down as long as he is there.

They had a chance to get Mike Rude once he left JC and before he took over at Vienna Goreville as that would have been awesome for WF. We would be better off getting one of Rude's proteges like Todd Thomas or stay in house and go with someone like Tim Glodich.

Beery is just pathetic no matter how you look at it so pretty much any direction you want to go would be a step in the right direction.

I don't like commenting on whether Beery can turn things around or not, but I personally think he may be able to. I think the main problem that plagues him is numbers pure and simple. This is also one of the things that hampered Coach Spence. I have talked to several players that said they like Coach Beery, so that can go a long way in helping the numbers. I will say that he does some things that I like and some that I don't like. I will comment on some statements that have been made that may not be accurate. I will also say that people may have told you these things, but I will relay what I was told. In April of 2007 I sat with my preacher in Mike Rudes office at J.C. My oldest son was playing in the So. Il. W. Ky. all-star game. We delivered his app to Mike so that he could get 1st dibs on his number. My preacher was Mikes preacher when Mike was in high school. I have become friends with Mike through that relationship. Mike was getting ready to retire and he talked with us about going to Vienna-Goreville. He was excited about this new venture. At no time did he mention wanting to come to W.F. He could only talk of his new team. He did tell us that he had applied at W.F. some years earlier and did not get the job, which surprised me. He also said that his heir apparent SHOULD be Coach Beery. Mike had many kind words for Beery. He said Brian was his right hand man. Beery did not get the job. It went to another coach who kept it for 1 year. He left, and Beery was hired at J.C. He coached there for 3 years and was 23 and 9. I go to church with 2 school board members from J.C. According to them, Beery left on his on accord. They were sad and disappointed of his leaving. They soon overcome that, because they got Dan Mings as their coach. Flash forward to about July of 2011. I talked to Mike at Sesser Valier at a 7 on 7. I see Mike periodically, but we do not speak of Beery often. I aksed Mike about Beery, and he said he is a tremendous young coach. He stated that he was a keeper, and that he knows the game. Hit the flash forward button again to the Carterville game this year. Mike was there scouting C-ville. We chatted for about 10 minutes. He asked how my preacher was doing, and then he began to speak of Coach Beery. He spoke of his knowledge of football and also of the weightroom. He could not say enough good things of Beery. Funny thing though. He said he believes that Beery will turn things around, if people let him. He said he hopes that people are patient, and don't get to hasty. He said that positive changes take time. His words not mine.

My son was put into BBs weight training program last year as a freshman. He was given a hard time about not playing football the whole school year. BB pushed my son to over extend his workouts and still has back issues to this day. Lastly BBs claim of certification, its bogus just ask the AD for verification.

I remember the inside info on Rude maybe coming to WF--He was coming for our class the 86-87 team that went to 3rd round of state. It happened our Junior year-so it would have 1985-86 season. We were all floored, because he was sooo well respected in the South 7 especially in Marion, but we(players)wanted him. He would have changed WF football for many years had that happened. Within weeks we heard Al Way from AJ was thinking about it-which again would have been a good thing. At the time AJ-had good teams under him--although they all buzzed their heads and we all had long hair (lol) didnt want to cut it. Anyway, those decisions could have change the future of WF football. They need a program that builds athletes starting in 3-4th grade and up.

How about more kids playing?? Hard to win games with 15 boys that ALL poor their hearts into playing the game. If you don't have a kid in football, you haven't a clue!!

I am a player. All of you dissing beery need to get a life. I mean really. He's doing the best he can. We do as much as we can with what little we have. We have three a days. The normal team has two a days. We have a daily lifting program. No other school has that. We try. As hard as we can. It's just the results all of you "fans" want haven't come up YET. if you were real fans, you would stick with us through these losing seasons so we can make it to a winning one.
