What happened to the night life in Jonesboro? Ive noticed not even the ASTATE students go out anymore.

Maybe they all got tired of getting drunk and acting like a bunch of a-holes in public.
|

|
Maybe they are home watching the Black-Eyed Peas.

Appears to me there's a lot of folks out driving fast and loose while talking and texting.
seriously, though, without a specific area/neighborhood/district or whatever you want to call it, there may never be enough energy gathered in one place to make it feel like nightlife. I keep hoping that the downtown efforts will pick up again. There's such great potential but Brickhouse and Godsey's just don't constitute an entertainment district. There's a lot of great looking buildings within those three or four blocks. Question is, does the "old money overs-and-shakers" crowd stand to benefit from it in any way? Without the clear support of the city's ancient ruling elite, ain't nothing gonna happen nowhere! |

believe i was trying to say "Movers-and shakers..."

it seems even the established places such as the brickhouse and cowboy are having a hard time getting crowds.

Like I've always said there isn't anything to do in this town and I mean NOTHING.

They are all out supporting their fantastic ASU Redwolves football team

its because jtown is in a dry county thee for college kids have to sneek around with their beer that they had to drive friggin 30 minutes to get. Therefor if they are going to drive 30 minutes to get over priced beer why not just go to memphis and party?? the greek system at ASU is probably the worst in the nation soooooo its not really much of a college town.....its just a bunch of dumbass kids that wish now that they would have went to another college :)

I agree. The greek system at ASU does suck. We never did anything in my sorority. We did a charity event maybe like once every couple of months. It was basically just join to party and look like an angel when you want to be in the public.

I definitely think "duh" above has a point. Having lived in a few college towns in the South and Southeast I find it LUDICROUS that this city has chosen to shoot itself in the foot with these arcane laws regarding alcohol and its consumption. Does anyone (even the permanently morally outraged) think that our streets are safer, that our citizens are healthier, or that we are maximizing our potential tax revenues by continuing to capitulate to those who want to have at least some modicum of control over your personal lifestyle choices!? I think we have enough churches (one of which I am a member) that our faith community can more than defend against any level of sin and degradation that might result from having a package store or two or being able to pick up a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon at Kroger when shopping for dinner!
Obviously, the topic (wet vs. dry) just makes me ill! I won't be able to move away from this town for a short while. While I'm here I just really would like to see it begin to move towards being the city that it can AND should be for all of the Northeast Arkansas population. |

Charlie has it right. I was thinking the same thing after I got back from Fayetteville Sunday night.

i like the nightlife.

If people want more nightlife then they have to go out more. If there's a demand then more places will come. As it is, it's a town of 70,000 ppl, college population of 11,000, and immediate surrounding population of 300,000. On any given weekend night in J'boro you'd be hard pressed to find even 800 people out if you combined all J'boro private liquor licenses. On a weeknight- good luck finding 250 ppl out. We have only ourselves to blame for the lack of nightlife . . . so quit bitchn and go out and have a good time. Encourgage the clubs that are trying to provide nightlife instead of sittn around the crib hatin.

Brickhouse, Godseys, Cowboy---what do you do after you have been to these places 2-3 times? Same bars, same expensive drinks, same people, same average music...so where do you go for nightlife in Jonesboro?

these places could be fun if the people here would do more than sit around and twiddle their thumbs. ive sat at dance nights in this town and seen the dance floor empty until 11pm. once people here hit 22 its old person time. look at the cowboy on thursdays night when its 18 and up. that dance floor is packed because the bad habits of this town have yet to reach that age group. |
