Town of Natchez-

was wanting to see about living in Natchez- is it a click town - is there a lot of crime?

Natchez is hometown. I still have family there. In my opinion, altough it can still be a comfortable place to live and raise a family, it has steadily declined.There are few good, quiet family neighborhoods in town.Most who live in the Natchez area and enjoy it, live in the country.
The only industry left is tourism, and their tourism is based on auto or bus travel, as fuel prices continue to rise. The public school system is in shambles, but there good private schools.
If you move there, and remain there for 30 years, you will still be a newcomer.
As far as crime, I haven't seen statistics, but it seems property crime and robberies are up, by reading the paper. In this economy with few good jobs available, that would make sense.
All that said, I still feel an attachment to that town. Maybe I am attached to what it was 30 years ago, or maybe there is still an underlying charm that someone needs to bring out.

It's my hometown, too. Lived there until I left for college in the early 90's and still have family there. In fact, I type this from my parent's home in Natchez, so I still go back often. It is a click town. Always has been. My family has lived here since the late 1960's, and we are not fully "in" although we are not exactly newcomers. The old money "clicks" have slowly lost power, and it will only get worse for them. Crime is high for the size town it is, but that being said, it's not that bad. My take? Go visit for the homes and history, but I can't recommend it as a place to live for most. Some love it. More power to them. I used to like coming back, but that is fading with time. I only wish I could convince my family to leave, but they don't like change and it won't happen. Good luck with your decision.

you will need a good job or income there is no jobs - the school system is ran by blacks for blacks so if you have white children bring money for school - the roads are allways tore up in town - there is streets the cops want go down - but if your in a click where your at you mite not fit there its all about old money in natchez
