I don't see it ever getting to the floor for a vote, but if it did and it should pass and then go to the voters in 2013 or 2014, would it pass the voters then? Who knows, but if people start trying to eliminate an existing right.......there will be another Prop 8 type battle. Hopefully the Prop 8 issue will be settled by then and Iowans will think twice before inserting discrimination.

Besides, you can't retroactive an Amendment and that would leave Iowa in the same situation as here in California. You can't invalidate the legal marriages that have already taken place. Exactly how many marriages do you think will have taken place in Iowa between now and then?

Iowan GOP move on to more important issues for your state and it's residents!!!

Since this would clearly violate Iowa's Constitution, it's a waste of time and money. Glad you guys in Iowa have money to throw around. Throw some at Michigan, would you???

What do you call the kind of person who spends their time and energy telling other people whom they can and cannot love?

What do you call the kind of person who takes tax money from hundreds of thousands of LGBT people and spends that money on trying to limit their rights and prevent them from being protected under the law?

What do you call the kind of person who thinks that because someone is gay, they should be treated as a second, third, or fourth class citizen?

What do you call the kind of person who supports preposterous distortions of the truth, and fabricates outright lies with the intention of demonizing people who've never done any harm to them?

What do you call the kind of person who keeps themself wilfully ignorant of the facts because those facts don't line up with their mythology?

What do you call the kind of person who continually looks for new and innovative ways to oppress others based soley on gender issues?

What do you call the kind of person who is fully invested in supporting wars, and also exerts a great deal of energy trying to prevent certain people from loving each other, or having happiness in their lives?

You can call them prejudiced; you can call them wrong. You can call them homophobes; you can call them bigots.

I call them a disgrace; I call them an abomination.

It's too bad that list is in alphabetical order. I'd like to see it in the order of how "hateful" they appear in their rhetoric.

IT AIN'T NEVER GONNA HAPPEN R1!!!

If and that's a really big IF......it should ever get to the people of Iowa and the people ELIMINATE an existing right.......IT WILL GO TO COURT AND YOU WILL LOSE and remember that even if you should win.....and that's a really BIG IF........it won't be retroactive and it can't undo the marriages already done.

This will create a legal situation and in the end.......Marriage Equality WILL win out!!!!

WOW - Iowa must be Soooo Successful.......No Unemployment, no Hunger or Homelessess.....The Legislature is just Soo bored they can't think of anything else to do with thier time..>? I guess the GOP Hate Machine.....wants Iowa to SPEND MILLIONS $$$ in court, and YEARS of Litigation. You think the people that HAVE BEEN married are gonna sit idly by,and let this happen..? This WILL BECOME another Prop (Hate)8 case.......you will NOT Dissolve the 1000's of Marriages that have, and will have taken place........and at the same time, you WILL Put Iowa In the History Books, as a Hatin',Bigoted state ON THE WRONG side of History , while forever ruining it's Reputation of Fairness and Equality.......see, it was NEVER Just about the Judges...it was about Bigotry AGAINST LGBT Iowans ALL ALONG..........all you gotta do is even look at the wording they want to strip TAx paying Gay Iowans, of thier rights to marriage, civil unions and even domestic partnerships..........you know, the Usual Christian Love.
