I am a partner in a development project at 180 Lower Shore Road..During the development process, my partners and I decided to take a different approach and preserve the land, through the Federal Government, so that it can be encompassed with the Edwin B Forsythe Wildlife refuge..I totally believe and was brought up to protect wildlife and nature. We did not want to develop this, although we went through the planning stage, because we have to. My partners and I had to jump through hoops and are getting notices from the township about our property, which I admit may have not been maintained because of this land preservation initiative...But I dont speak for the entire group..All we want to do is preserve this valuable piece of land..There are many options we have with this land, but the most important is just leaving it as is..I want to let the residents know because we keep getting notices from the town, who may want to take action against us..Please do not push us into a situation where we have to sell it to a developer..We already have a contract with the federal government to preserve the land and that doesn't seem to be good enough for some..Barnegat is being over built and we know that..I don't want to be forced into building to recoup my investment. I rather preserve and walk away.

This is interesting. I just visited this site this past July - I lived at 180 Lower Shore Road when I was a child. The property belonged to my Grandfather, Max Schneider. I wanted to show my grandson where I grew up and was so distressed to see how run down everything was. I had such a rush of memories of my childhood antics around the property. Please keep me apprised of what you intend to do with the property. I would hate to see the property turned into a development.

Arthur,
Just to reply to your post, the Federal Government has allocated money to purchase the property for preservation..The property will not be developed!! We had the Division of Fish and Game out looking at the property and they loved it.. A closing should take place shortly..The buildings will be removed and the land will be preserved in its natural state, for all to enjoy! Thank you for your post! Russ |
