What happened to the big attorney from Charleston the lady had? Or was this another ploy to hide the wrongdoings of a completely innocent City Manager? Another payout for the City of Columbia for taxes to bumped again? How much more ?????

I believe they have either 30 or 60 days to answer the Complaint that was filed in Federal Court. It also is not unusual for parties involved in these matters to ask for an extension to file their response. It definitely is not a quick process and do not look for any news outlets to cover this story because they basically do not want to cover any negative press involving what they deem to be a prominant African American. This is in spite of Mr. Austin losing several million dollars of the publics money and having an accused CSA individual with a degree from a bogus college earning $95,000.00 as the Director of Homeland Security.

But on a good note, The State did report that he dances while preaching on Sunday morning so I guess that makes everything ok. You just can't make up this stuff so just wait and see what screw up is discovered next!

Heaven forbid we make up this stuff as it goes along! I think this may even be a figment of my imagination of the things he his accused of. And the "rapist", you can always know he will be right there with his nose so far up Austin's rear end it will take a towing service like Campbells garage to get him out if Austin makes a quick stop. I hope they burn him a good one for the dirty way he has done the people of Columbia, raised their taxes for monies he has wasted and is still continuing to waste. Let's just see how long its going to be before something is done. Probably the 12th of never if Bobblehead has anything to do with it.

Well said and unfortunately, you are right about the 12th of never.

I just wish some form of news media would publish or question just the monies the city has paid to settle various law suits that name misconduct by Mr. Austin. WIS had one news report years ago and said to stay tuned for updates and we are still waiting for that update. However, very quietly, after a deposition melt down by Mr. Austin, the city settled for a huge amount.

I hope it ends soon but I agree, that as long as Bobble Head is there, nothing is going to change.

It's not just Bobble Head and Austin. You will need to get rid of everyone from the Personnel Director down to the Department Heads. You have no idea how far this rot has spread.

I agree with you but Mr. Austin has his thumb on all the appointments there so anyone who holds the positions you speak of would have been approved by him. I mean look at Director Harold "The Rapist" Reaves. He would have been been thrown under the bus by anyone else but Mr. Austin.

actually, no. but there is so many other issues the police dept can focus on instead of burning people at 4-way stop signs.

If the one rotten apple in the barrel is not removed the entire barrel will be wasted. This is exactly what is happening at Main and Laurel St., from council on down to the maintenance depts. You stay around dogs long enough you will get up with fleas. Don't ya think its time somebody call an exterminator?

Yep. I agree with you. This is one case where you HAVE to throw away the whole barrel. The whole city is rotten to it's core. When something goes wrong, the city department heads just close ranks around each other and defend one another regardless of whether or not they are in the right.

I've been watching this city's government since 1976. It's steadily grown worse over the years, both in terms of how they treat their employees and how they spend money. Nothing short of Federal intervention or a complete makeover of the form of municipal government the city uses will ever change things.

Are you a former city employee?

Kirkman Finlay and Mayor Bob had a ...well let's see, I think it was a disagreement in one of City Council's meetings. At least one of council members is getting fed up and speaking out against wasting money.

Mrs. Spell's lawyer was fully informed of the way that the City/SLED works. The information regarding SLED's "Blue Silence" is becoming well known. Again, just because the case was closed does not mean that Austin is innocent. I don't think he has one innocent bone left in his body. Austin is still being scrutinized by....lets just say there are agencies over him, Federal Agencies.

When the time comes, I hope they get all of 'em from the top to the bottom. That way they will know the right ones are out. It's kinda like my parents when I was young. Whip all the youngin's and that way you will know you got the right one. Deny all you wish, but sooner or later it will catch up with ya. When it does, whoa be unto ya!! Don't ya know that crew at City Hall goes in every Monday morning with excitement and arrogance to see where they can shaft the taxpayers, and then laugh at them because they know they can get away with it? My oh my!!!

i would like to know who withheld evidence in this matter regarding the incident with the Interim Police Chief last year. It certainly wasn't completely submitted. Someone went through the evidence and eliminated what they did not want the public to know (crucial evidence).

They have lied so much, I'm not surprised Austin can pass a lie detector test. I believe he actually thinks he is telling the truth, not to mention that they have been trained to "beat" a polygraph test and they are not admissible in court.

I am not a former city employee, but lets just put it this way..........I have inside contacts through one of the top departments within the city. I have no family members employed with the city nor do I want any family member entangled into such web. Once the top dog investigations are complete we will see if Austin can head back to Charleston. I'm sure they will be delighted to have him back!!!

The City is taking steps to address homelessness by Bob Coble located in The State Newspaper.

I thought this was Austin's job. Why should he do anything when he has everyone else doing his job?
