Police: Man Caught Sexually Assaulting Child

West Columbia police say they have arrested a man they caught as he was sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in a hotel room.

I swear if this was my daughter I'd be in jail for homicide and he'd be dead.

I have some more questions . How did the mom know where to look ? Why was she with him anyway ? I hope this child can overcome what this scum bag did to her . The courts need to order castration and NO release from jail ever . He does not deserve ANY freedom or rights . Better yet , put him out of his misery .(and ours)

I was thinking the same thing. It says that she knew her daughter was there. So did she allowed her daughter to go? If not, I would have busted that door down. This appears to be consentual between this grown man and this little girl. This man is nasty ande sick and this girl (if this was consentual) is stupid and needs help.

i agree with the poster above...even if this man had no record whatsoever, that bond is extremely low for these charges!

How did the mom know where the daughter was? I'm not saying she had anything to do with the assault, but I just don't get how she knew exactly where to send the police. Did the daughter call her or something?

For those of you who would prefer that the police not set up "sting" operations, I guess this story is more acceptable to you than stopping the perpetrator before he assaults a young person. Quite frankly, I believe it is in our best interest to intercept these people before they assault. As an assault survivor, I wish my perp had been arrested prior to me being assaulted and I am an adult. It took 14 years for me to be able to discuss this with anyone.

By the way, only one third of perpetrators are convicted so there are the other two thirds out on our streets just waiting for the next victim. These people are unable to be rehabilatated, so our society needs to make some changes in the way we regard these criminals. It is not safe to have them walking around on our streets. The choice is either to have them spend the rest of their life in prison (on our dime) or to be sent to death row.

Here's a case of a registered sex offender, caught in the act of assaulting a 14 year old girl, by police. He was also in possession of cocaine and had offered both the drug and alcohol to the teenaged girl. His bond?$85,000.
Then there's the case of the Swansea High School football player charged with allegedly fondling at least five different girls at school and supposedly exposing himself to one of them. His bond?$450,000.
What the hell is that all about? Equity in bail amounts needs to be studied.
