U.S. factory activity expanded at a slower pace in April, held back by weaker hiring and less company stockpiling. The Institute for Supply Management said Wednesday that its index of manufacturing activity slipped to 50.7 last month. That's down from 51.3 in March and the slowest pace this year. A reading above 50 indicates expansion.

Add a few servcie industry jobs getting ready for summer holdiays...and the demorats go all giddy and the propaganda machine gets rolling. LMAO

'fall sharply'? A gross exaggeration and only in the eyes of a true Believer. I don't give a rat's ass about the unemployment number any more. It is NOT an accurate measure. The labor participation rate today is as low as during the Carter administration.

Would you expect anything less from Mr Bill and Rueters?

Reuters has too much invested in Obama to tell the truth.

Keep covering for Obama. It's fun to see you clowns spin for the clown in chief.

Tell that to the hunderds of thousands working in new jobs.

Tell, also, those still unemployed, that the GOP Congress's shenanigans are costing our economy an additional 75,000 to 125,000 jobs.(I must be hazy as this is actually hard to prognosticate.

Bill,

The biggest number to look at is the of people that lost their jobs and exhausted all of their unemployment benefits. Those that exhaust their benefits fall out of the system and are not even counted. You know this.

The +168k is all bullshit.

Want to flip burgers, want to stock shelves with Chinese made crap, want to wipe someone's ass? Then we got a job for you.

Exports and manufacturing are still down. The little manufacturing that is taking place is not because of demand. It is government telling manufacturers to increase stock of items. Not because people want the items, but, it keeps people working.

You cannot be this naive.

True, but the subject is the unemployment RATE.

I am in he small minority who would vet every illegal; and who support a high import tariff on manufactured goods.
I also favor a 100% tax on any executive compensation larger than 200x the average worker's wage in his company.
And, further, I favor a 100% tax on all profits of an energy company found to be gouging.
Finally, I would place a 'service tax' upon all calls shifted to 'help centers' outside of the USA. This tax would equalize the cost of doing business in a foreign cheap-labor market, with American wage tables.

That said, the administration has done very well, considering that GP policy is simply to sabotage any initiative which may improve employment, making Obamam look good.

Oh dear god.

Bill. Stop with the GOP vs Democrat bullshit.

They are both bought and paid for by the banking interest.

Fascism = the merger of corporations and government.

As long as you continue the argument of GOP versus Obama, you are a part of the problem.

These empty suits and stuffed shirts cannot fix anything. They do not have the mental capacity. They are idiot puppets, their actions are to keep your arguing over political parties and not the puppeteers.

The only people who can fix the problem, is the people themselves. But, like millions of other Americans, they do the same freaking thing you do. Point fingers and say, its the D's fault, no, it's the R's fault, no, D, R, D, R.

It's disgusting and fails the moment you start it.

It is for real.
The "people themselves" do not pass laws in concert, this is a republic.

This used to be a Republic. It is not anymore.

We are now a fascist state. Merger of corporations and government.

The laws do not benefit the people, they benefit only the large multi-national companies and mega banks.

Let's look at Big Pharma for instance. From 1998 to 2010 Big Pharma spent over $5B in lobbying. Compare that to the $1.75B from the oil industry over the same time frame.

Now, since we are talking Big Pharma, does Obamacare (Soemthing you support not due to the legislation, but, whose name is attached to it) do anything that benefits the medium American? Answer: No

Obamacare was written by the big insurance companies for the big insurance companies to increase the enrollments of people. If you elect not to take insurance as a personal choice, the government then can fine you up to $1500/year. One of the people who wrote the law (cannot remember her name right now) worked for Health Point in the government affairs division prior to being added to the staff of Senator Schumer's office. She was brought into Senator Schumer's office in order to write Obamacare. Once it was passed she told over all government relations for..........wait for it..........Johnson and Johnson. Leaving Senator Schumer's staff to now lobby Senator Schumer's office.

Fascism.
