Wouldn't matter. Their CEO McComb wouldn't know how to run an ice cream stand

MBA Mows Grass To Make Ends Meet

As part of our Bearing Witness 2.0 project, the Huffington Post is rounding up local stories of formerly middle-class families who are now struggling to stay afloat. If you or someone you know has a story to tell, please e-mail me at [email protected]

When Frank Harris completed his MBA degree in May of 2005, he never expected to end up mowing grass for a living. But after losing his $103,000-a-year upper management job at Lowe's, just as the job market was crashing in December 2008, he didn't see many other options.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

More than two years out of college, Ben Harris finds himself working in a chicken-finger place and living with his parents in Hilliard.

This is not what he expected as a double major in political science and communications at Ohio State University. He would like to be an educational ranger in the National Park Service, or possibly a political journalist.

He's gone so far as to volunteer as a Statehouse tour guide to juice his resume, but no job he wants has come through.

So he's turning to a place that does have jobs to fit his interests. He is joining the military.

Claiborne has been doing bad for years. They lost favorite supplier status with Macy's in 2008 or so and went downhill ever since.

Worked at Liz Claiborne in North Bergen for 23.5 yrs before getting laid off in 2007. I know how it feels. Good luck to the workers in finding another Job. I have yet to be unemployed.

Thanks Thomas. Many Liz Claiborne associates from Rhode Island to California and in between were screwed over. Corporate blames the economy, but most Liz associates know it was very bad decisions made by corporate in New York. Sure would hate to be a shareholder for this company.

when i was layed off the stock that year was about 60 dollars a share and eventually went down to around $1.50 a share.(OUCH) they started off with 5 divisions and then ended up with 45 divisions. they ended up selling them for nothing for what they paid for them or just clossing them. they are back to aprox 5 divisions. used to drive liz claiborne in the van when i drove from ny office to nj warehouse. she used to eat with the workers talk with the workers. really nice lady. really started to change when she left. had 11 warehouses in nj at one time. still working thank god for that. not getting near what i got there. But what could i say. just glad to be working being able to pay my bills.
