Maybe Obama and Holder are setting the stage so they can get married to each other.

How about hiring an attorney to defend the speeding law, or the law forbiding smoking, or embezzelment, or etc, etc. I am very happy to hear the state no longer has a budget problem and can afford more attorneys, and his legal staff. NOT!

The people worried about 'defending marriage' are a bunch of idiots. Defending it from WHAT? They need to pour all that time and energy spent being hypocritical bigots into a REAL cause.
And by the way, while Obama is not a judge, he is an expert in constitutional law, something conservatives 'forget' to consider because they are so blinded by the color of his skin.

This must be a great relief for all those people in heterosexual marriages who feel their marriage is threatened by the gay couple down the street who just might get to enjoy the same rights that they do.

Good lord, what a convoluted, unintentionally ironic post.

"Real" as defined by whom? Let me guess - you.

The people who preach "tolerance" are some of the most intolerant, narrow-minded people you'll ever meet. By "tolerance" they mean "only if you agree with me". If you don't think as they do, they'll call you juvenile names, label you with sweeping generalities and hateful stereotypes, and accuse you of being what they themselves are.

This post is a prime example of such enlightened, open-minded "progressive" thought.

I have respect for Mike Dewine, our state attorney general for whom I voted, but in this case he is woefully wrong and is allowing his religious beliefs to obscure his duties to protect the citizens (all of them) of Ohio. The Ohio amendment is a clear violation of the US Constitution's Equal Protection Clause, which supercedes state laws, and Mr. Dewine, as a former senator and a smart lawyer, knows this. The Obama administration and the Justice Department knows that this kind of state legislation will eventually be overturned. Shame on you, Mike Dewine for not taking a strong stance to protect citizens equally, especially in the face of strong evidence that same-sex marriages are no worse that heterosex marriages (in whose names despicable violence has happened for thousands of years). Mike Dewine, be courageous and stand up for those who want only to love and to have loving families.

Yes, b/c everything else is going so swimmingly-the economy, safety, environment, etc. these clowns have time to spend on suppressing citizens rights.

Yes, let's defend straight marriages. 50% of them fail, how much of the other 50% are cheating? If we need to defend marriage, it needs defending from the man and woman that marry and don't take their commitment seriously.

20 US states already allow you marry your first cousin without conditions, another 9 will recognize your marriage to your cousin, as long as you do it somewhere else, and another 5 allow you to marry your first cousin if a few conditions apply.

Really? Because I have NEVER experienced that when dealing with the government agencies? Tell me which ones-because they are obviously not ones I have dealt with in Licking or Franklin counties..........and I'm talking about being involved for the right reasons, like when I adopted my son. Nothing about my partner mattered, it was all about me. When you receive paperwork it says name, spouse, etc. no place for partner or anything like that. So where is it that same-sex couples are recognized and given them the same benefits because I would like to actually see it?

"Who made Obama judge and jury?" Really-who made those in defense of protecting heterosexual marriage judge and jury? The last I heard was that there was only one judge and it wasn't anyone here on earth. So-why do you get to condemn a ritual I might have with my partner when I'm not allowed to condemn yours? You get to marry as many times as you want-I know one woman married 11 times in 20 years and I can't have 1 simple ritual? Where's the fairness in that? I'm not the judge and jury, neither is Obama, but Ohio needs to realize that they aren't either? I did not know that those in glass houses could still throw stones?

Ge 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Ge 1:28 God blessed them and said to them,“Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Now I realize that what in the Bible, nobody really cares what in it,except for a few of us that truley believe what's written in it. Homosexuallity use to be wrong, there was a word for it called sodomy, it was the copulation in any unnatural ways, it was wrong then and it's wrong now. Just because there are more homosexuals does not make it right only more to be against God's rules. But your right, it doesn't really matter if you don't believe.

Thank God you judgmental, bigoted, self-righteous, hateful, fear-mongering, intolerant hypocrites are feeling secure in your little delusional womb of conservatism this morning. If not for you, how would we have ever known that all of the people who are born homosexual deserve our mistreatment and discrimination? Thank you for opening our eyes!

After all, holding onto the tired, worn-out, dysfunctional ideas that served us so poorly in the past is such a brilliant strategy for solving the problems of humanity and propelling us into the future! We all can sleep soundly knowing we are in the wise hands of conservatism that has always told us what to think, sought equal opportunity for the disadvantaged, and fostered goodwill with all the other nations and cultures of the world - both now and throughout history. All we have to do is look around our nation, and the world, and see how, thanks to American arrogant conservatism, we are truly experiencing heaven on earth.
It is such a blessing to live in a state that spawned such ideas, and heroes like John Boehner and John Kasich. Hallelujah...

Why are people so opposed to same-sex marriage? It's time for people to get over their prejudices about people who aren't exactly like themselves.

Remember when black people couldn't vote because they weren't considered to be "equal" to white people?

Remember when women couldn't vote or get credit for the same reason - they weren't "equal" to men?

Remember when it was frowned upon (and yes, even illegal) for mixed-race couples to be seen together?

Our country ended all these prejudices because we realized they were WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

Now some folks are still grappling with gays and lesbians and their rights. Why?

It seems to me if you can't give everybody the same rights, then we might as well take away the rights of black people, all women, etc., that we will have learned NOTHING in the 235 years of this country's history.
