It would be easier to name the parts that arent total shit holes. This city is gang infested dump. It seems lately some one is either shot or stabbed on a daily basis. But the police chief just keep playing the violin while the ship sinks.

I love how everyone says "even in the ghetto no one bothers you unless you give them a reason to." Well don't you have all the luck, then why have I gotten jumped 3 times (once on belmont st and twice in main south) just walking home minding my own business by people I didn't know or ever see again?

No kidding. I guess all the people on Water St and the "Canal District" who are getting robbed/shot/stabbed after dinner must have been asking for it and starting some trouble right? Its couldnt be that the City Council has never seen a low income housing project that they didnt like. It could be our court system in MA prefers the criminal's rights over the victim's rights. Naw. Couldn't be any of those.

I think if the police had a stronger presence, I mean , if they were out, maybe the muggings, and the drugs, would stop. But as it stands, they keep hiring police, but they don't do their job. I saw an accident the other day, an 2 cruisers drove righ by, didn't stop, up the street, they had both pulled into Dunkin donuts. Why are we paying for more police, if they aren't doing their job?

I agree, more cops (who do their job) would be great. The issue is what happens once they are arrested? Take for example recently in the town of Webster MA. I man was arrested for threatening his neighbor's life. He was released that same day only to assault his wife and get arrested again. Turns out he has 13 open cases against him. he was then released on $100 bail. This guy now has at least 14 open cases against him, beat up his wife, threatened his neighbor and is out on $100?

My neighbor was a victim of a home invasion at gun point 2 years ago. The cops caught the 3 perps an hour later. The gun was stolen, ammo stolen (both of which are supposed to carry a 1 yr mandatory sentence) along with the stuff they robbed from my neighbor they had stuff from another robbery earlier in the day. The driver was released on personal recognizance, and the other two released on $260 bail. The gun along they used was valued over $400, they stole over $2000 worth of sports memorabilia from my neighbor and who know what they got from the other house. Worst part of it was, these 3 losers lived exactly 4 houses away from the guy they just robbed.

How does that tax paying, law abiding citizen feel about the 3 losers who held him at gun point now back in the very neighborhood they terrorized hours before? Its the courts in this shitty state that allow these animals back on the streets only to dodge their court dates and continue with their crimes without as much as a slap on the wrist.

I feel bad for the cops who arrest the same people every week only to find these same losers back on the street less than 24 hours later.

My solution? BUILD MORE JAILS. Not the ones with nice TVs and weight rooms. Not the ones with basketball courts and email. Im talking about the ones where people go to pay for their crimes. Think of the construction jobs, union guards that would be hired and losers off the streets.

When the MA courts get serious on crime instead of putting criminal's rights before the victims, then we will have a safer state. Until then, we will continue to see the same losers/gangs committing the same crimes over and over.

And people wonder why Massachusetts is losing its tax paying population and instead seeing its low income housing projects soar.

Used to drive a cab in Worcester. Was driving thru gbv and saw a woman on thr sidewalk bloody, calling for help. Called the police, and a few minutes later, a patrol car comes by, slows down, calls on his radio, and then drives off. Didn't stop, or get out to help her, the woman later died. That always stayed with me. If the police won't help, who do you go to? Why do we have police? I moved away. I knew then, there was no hope.
