The fact of the matter is that anyone who plans to go to the "Racinos" instead of the FrenchLick or West Baden Hotel most likely do not have the money to stay in the two hotels anyway. The real gamblers play table games which they will not have at the racinos.
Visitors will also go to these two historic landmarks BECAUSE they are out of the way. It is a true get away with 3 golf courses, 2 spas, horseback riding, bowling, indoor tennis, and yes a casino. One step inside that dome will be enough to bring you back again. Those who say otherwise have not stepped foot in this yet.

French Lick is a endangered species - That is why the state was reluctant to put a casino there.

One-armed bandits at Hoosier Park in Anderson and Indiana Downs in Shelbyville could attract a significant share of French Lick’s clientele—possibly enough to break its bottom line

Most people avoid this area since it is REMOTE. Sure - People will go but not enough to sustain it. I69 must be built to save this area

Gee. Us ignorant hill folk sure are surprised by the especially rude crop of Indy snobs they are a-growin' this year.

As someone who frequents the your fair city, I am a little disappointed at your low opinion of your fellow Hoosiers to the South.

That place has no chance for success.

I didn't see mention of bag after bag of taxpayer money being used to reclaim the ruins.

Heck, ask Mayor Brat --- if you can't spend millions and millions of tax dollars, it is not worth a second glance.

Better yet, let's take a modest collection and send Mayor Brat down there to see how things are done. To hold expenses in line with value received, let's make it a one-way ticket.

Hey rspence: you just don't understand the problem up here...complete lack of intelligent life. We pay nearly a billion to replace things like football stadiums and convention centers that are in good condition. We give millions to people who have enough already just to be sure they won't leave. We spend millions to build a glass expansion of a library that is in the midst of granite and limestone buildings merely because some idiot thought it'd be cute and we let some goof put a restaurant and bar inside a public (government) building then give 'em a license to run the damn thing on public property.

Yeppers, we know how to do things right. Y'all is backasswards down there.

Not all of us have moustaches and 40 inch waistlines, sweetheart.
All you naysayer can just keep it up, you don't see what I see on a daily basis. Buses, Buses and more Buses coming from everywhere.

I just love the stereotyping people who live in this area are getting. Psst, most of us MOVED HERE to work here, Chicago, Louisville, Indy... 98% of my coworkers are from LARGE CITIES.

And we're the backwards ones.

Thanks Mr. Cook, you've done a great thing in Orange County and we all appreciate it.

I truely hope the new West Baden domed hotel does well. The area is beautiful, the history is great and this area really does need the jobs to help it grow. So as i said, i really do hope it does well; but i just dont see it happening. the casino which was suppose to help bring in guest and jobs for the locals, must not be doing as well as the management and media is reporting since they are laying many off already. I say either Mr. Cook doesnt know what is going on in his own company or he doesnt care?

It's buried in the news stores, but weren't the taxpayers also forced to kick in tens of millions to this thing?
